Nordstrom is the best high-end department store in the King of Prussia Mall by far. The staff are very friendly, there is no need to worry about coupons (like at Lord & Taylor, which can be an unfriendly shop), and the merchandise is stylish. The store encompasses three floors. The ground floor has menswear, shoes and cosmetics. The second floor is where many people enter, as the bridge to the parking garage is there. This is the most impressive floor. There is a live piano player here, and there are comfortable chairs with newspapers to read, for those who don't like to shop. Women's clothing takes up this floor. From store labels like Faconnable to big brands like Burberry, everything can be found here. The third floor has the BP (teens') department, kids' apparel and shoes, the cafe, and the special services, like prosthetics.

The Zallie's ShopRite of West Berlin is my new favorite ShopRite. First off, the store is huge. It's at least the size of a Kmart. The bakery department is huge (and even at 9PM on a recent night they were still baking), the deli counter stays open late, and the produce selection is huge. You can buy liquor here, too. There are many long and wide aisles selling everything. There are many checkouts open even late at night. This store stays open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Their prices are hard to beat. Sale tags abound. The parking lot is massive. The staff are friendly, and they are everywhere at night, especially on Saturday nights before a new sale starts. Restocking hours are when the aisles get a bit congested from all the stockers. Also I don't like how the store entrance and exit are so narrow and hard to find, especially since the store is huge! Anyway, my experiences with this store have been overwhelmingly positive and I find they have better promotions than other ShopRites- like the one in Eastgate Square and the one at the Route 70/ Route 73 circle. The service desk here is efficient and stays open late.
Location: Right across from Wal-Mart and in the Berlin Circle Plaza near Eckerd, Staples, and Home Depot

I really hate to give this restaurant a two-star rating since it offers great service, a fun ambiance, and affordable eats, but I have to do so. The food here is just not that great. Now the others in my party recently liked what they ordered (all of us for take-out), but I was very disappointed with my selection, a "Philly Cheesesteak" burger with "Irish Haystack" onion rings instead of seasoned fries. The burger was flavorless. The meat was overcooked. The mushrooms and green peppers promised in the menu were in short supply. There was clearly a lack of cheese on this burger. The Irish Haystack onion rings were like eating oil. They were edible, but the flavor was lost because of too much grease. The onion rings also were not crunchy. They were thin, unlike onion rings at Burger King. (Though this the waitress advised me of.) Well, I guess if you are on the road Bennigan's is a decent choice. I might come back if I'm in the area. Monday's special is any Monte Cristo deep fried sandwich for $4.99 (or $3.99, I can't remember) and Wednesday's special is any burger except the Big Irish one-pounder for $4.99. If you get coupons in the mail, this place can be cheaper than eating fast food.
Location? Right off exit four on the Turnpike.

I was lured in during a floor sample sale. I have to say that most of the prices here are very high, even if the price is drastically reduced. Here you find a lot of unique items, like a one-of-a-kind mahogany china cabinet for around $8000. (at 67% off) Kroungold's has a lot of upholstery that is different from other stores. For example, they stock a lot of zebra and leopard skin style patterns, which are not quite my cup of tea. The quality of merchandise here is high. The staff leave you alone and don't pressure you. I must question the markups here as on a weekday afternoon I was the only customer- with at least three or four clerks on duty.
This store is in the "Designer's Court" development on Route 73, so I guess a lot of interior decorators like on HGTV shop here. I'm not sure whether it is in Marlton or Voorhees. It sure is near the Kresson School and Partridge Run development via Sunbird Drive.

This warehouse like store is located on the outskirts of tony Manayunk in Philadelphia. It's just down the street from the United Artists' Theater and the CVS. The stuff sold here is nice, but the store itself gives me the creeps. When I came here on a rainy Saturday afternoon, the place seemed deserted. No one seemed to be inside when I entered. Then, out of nowhere, a clerk appeared. That really shocked me. Very good service is to be had here, and the clerk was not pushy at all.
The furniture here is all of high quality. Most of it is teak, a pricey wood. It's solid. The prices are very reasonable. Considering how I've heard teak comes from Indonesia and elsewhere in Southeast Asia, the price is probably still marked up quite a bit, though. A lot of the pieces seem as if they were meant for religious purposes, but I am not an expert about that area.
Parking for this store can be a hassle. However, at least the indoor environment is minimal and the people who work here leave you alone and are still friendly.

Winnie's Le Bus restaurant/ bakery-cafe in Manayunk has a small, but varied menu, comprised of salads, sandwiches, and breakfast favorites. The strong and fragrant aromas of Le Bus waft down this stretch of Main Street. And both inside and out (they have al fresco street dining), the place is packed. The servers are busy, and the small kitchen is always cooking. The complimentary bread basket is very nice. It includes a nut bread, cornbread, and pumpernickel bread, all of which are very rich in flavor. The sandwiches are good. From what I observed, the Thai salad is especially popular. (I haven't tried it though!) I like the burgers and the chicken salad sandwich. I like choosing what bread I want my food served on and I love their french fries and sweet potato fries.

Pottery Barn is the chain store for the "Friends" set of young urban professionals. Or so I'm told. To me it is just a very pricey shop that tries to feel like a boutique but doesn't. Pottery Barn sells lamps, decorative accessories, pottery, dinnerware, curtains, and furniture. Their store feels very upmarket. The focal point of it is the big metal "loft" staircase that sits right in the middle of the store. (That's right, there are two floors of this stuff, with a big skylight to top it all off.) I think that the merchandise here is nice and of high quality, but would I buy too much of it? No. They do run sale events, and sometimes, at the final markdowns, things are priced comparably to Target's regular prices. However, the clerks aren't friendly here and I feel that the whole place is very artificial.

Platypus is a small boutique store that sells home furnishings. Their sale prices are reasonable, but not low. Regular priced items are a bit expensive. I like traditional furnishings, but not like those found at Platypus. The calico and gingham- upholstered sofas sold here wouldn't fit into most homes.
One thing of note about this store is that it smells funky inside. Kind of like coffee with incense. They try very hard to be trendy. I noticed that the clerk was meditating. Either way, this is a store for special items other people don't have. The merchandise either appeals to you, or turns you off. Parking around here (Manayunk's Main Street) is a hassle and it is a hassle to pick up your purchases in my opinion. There are two floors to this shop, and I wouldn't want to be the one carrying things down from the top floor down the steep staircase.

I'm not a member of this public country club, but I love coming to their four outdoor swimming pools, which are manned by lifeguards and are near woods. The pools are not too chlorinated and are far from being crowded. (Though you won't get the whole pool to yourself, you can easily swim laps- even when laps are not marked.) The snack bar is reasonably priced; however, I cannot vouch for the food there, I haven't tried it. The only area that needs improvement are the restrooms, which are filthy. Considering how it costs $10 for an adult to access these pools, and $5 for a senior citizen or child under 15 (I think? Don't know how much it costs for teens), I would expect a bit more in terms of the facilities, which lacked luxury but were more than I am used to.

Nowadays, everyone has to check in two or three hours before departures. Most airports capitalize on this fact with plentiful shopping (even up to the gates!) and many food vendors. Newark Liberty Airport (EWR) doesn't have that sort of stuff. There's an Erwin Pearl boutique, a small food court, a Virgin mini store, Duty Free shops that look as boring as it gets, and newsstands. Most are before the security checkpoint. Only the newsstand chain (Relay) and the Duty Free shop had branches near the gates. My experience was with the international terminal and I was not too impressed. Thankfully, I brought reading materials and was able to survive.
On the plus side, the staff were very helpful and the airport was immaculate. The AirTrain ran on time and as scheduled. The restrooms were great. Sadly, "great" cannot be used to describe other aspects of this airport. Don't get me started as to how confusing the access roads here are...and how hard it is to find a gas station amidst the maze of roads in the vicinity.
