Six Flags Great Adventure is a nice local amusement park for New Yorkers and New Jersey residents. It has three decent parks: the Wild Safari (drive thru safari- no rides), the Great Adventure (tons of roller coasters including the new Kingda Ka), and the Hurricane Harbor.(lots of thrilling water rides) I particularly liked the Wild Safari. My family loved the animals, especially the giraffe. (who came right next to our car and stuck his head on top of our sunroof!) The safari is 4.5 miles long, and will take about 1-3 hours depending on how slowly you move.
Admission is quite pricey, but Coke cans and fast-food chains usually have coupons. The safari cost $17.99+1.08 sales tax for a total of $19.07.
