I am terribly picky...I eat like a two year old sometimes. Jamba Juice caters to my picky palate. The Jamba Juice stores that I have been to are always clean and well kept. There are a few seats to hang out with your smoothie, but most people seem to take it to go. The menu is divided by fruit smoothies, the lighter calorie smoothies, the milkshake style smoothies and the smoothies with a purpose (extra vitamin C for colds etc...). I always get the lighter smoothies, I ask for no bananas, extra strawberries and extra ice. The workers don't even blink an eye at all my requests. Every smoothie includes a "free" boost, ranging from the cold fighter to energy booster. The smoothies are delicious, and easily make a meal. The middle size tends to be just under $4. I have had the pretzels they sell here along with other snacks and they have never been anything worth talking about. The smoothies are fabulous and hit the spot!

As a amateur photographer I was overwhelmed by the selection and stock here. I went to the main store and was amazed by all the variety of cameras, camera bags, photo paper, filters etc. I went across the street to the rentals building to pick of film. There is a vast selection of film and it is reasonably priced compared to other local camera shops. I needed help finding the right film for the particular scene I was shooting and found the employee to be a bit reserved but helpful.

I love Trader Joes because I can count on them for having fresh products, low prices and nice workers. Their produce prices are low to start with, but they are organic on top of that. The general grocery prices are low and the Trader Joe brand products are downright cheap. I have found the quality of all the Trader Joes brand products to be exceptional. In addition to groceries, they also stock pet products, lots of wine and beer, supplements and health and beauty products. The workers are knowledgeable and always friendly. I have found all the Trader Joe stores to be clean and well kept.

Sopranos is just down the block from my fave bakery, Larsen's. Our office decided to take a break from Romios and order from Sopranos. The menu is standard for an italian joint with a few different options including cobb salad, tzatziki with pita and low and no carb options. We ordered a couple of pizzas, salads and garlic knots. The delivery was right on time and the price was about the same as Romios. The garlic knots are pizza dough twisted up with seasonings, the knots were delicious but could have used more flavor. We ordered dinner and a greek salad. The greek salad must have weighed 5 pounds, it was pure vegetables with sauce, amazing. The dinner salads were fresh, no complaints. The pizza is delicious. The crust is thick and doughy with a good amount of cheese and generous toppings. The sauce was a bit sweeter than I prefer, that being my only complaint. We plan on ordering there next week, yum!

Central Market is top notch in all of their departments. There is the traditional grocery store items and the bakery, deli, produce etc...is exceptional. The bakery is well stocked with tons of different kinds of cakes, pastries, lots of products made by small companies in the area. Moving on, there is a huge salad bar with a ton of different options. The meat case is packed with a variety of meat and cheese, more than I have seen anywhere. There is a separate area of prepared foods with about 5 different soups a day, sandwiches, burritos, turkey dinners and the standard fried chicken, jo-jos etc. Central Market has a bulk foods section with granolas, baking items, tons of candy (including sugar free) and a nice wall of bulk teas and spices. The store also has a nice selection of beauty and bath products all of which are natural. There is a large section of asian foods. Seafood and meat cases are always are fresh and well displayed. I am very picky about my produce and Central Market is one of two places I will buy it from (ballard market being the other). The produce here is reasonably priced and always fresh. There is a sushi counter in the middle of the produce and sushi is made throughout the day. The floral area always has lots to choose from. Prices at Central Market are a bit high, but their sale items are a deal. I like going to Central Market because they have what I might describe as a food court in the store. There is a Nathans Hot Dog place that also serves pizza, a mexican place and chinese food. Central Market is consistently clean (although, this doesn't seem true for the restrooms) and the workers are always friendly.

Zak's reminds me of an independent version of Red Robin. Fun things on the walls to look at and a casual and relaxed atmosphere. Parking can be a pain on Friday and Saturday nights as Zaks is just a few doors down from the movie theater. The food is good. The hamburgers are nothing too special but hit the spot. The chicken burger is a nice piece of breast meat with a yummy dijon sauce. The grilled cheese sandwich is made with real chedder cheese, not the sliced american crap. They always a have a daily special, which is the same 3 choices... but its a great deal. Its a chicken burger, regular burger or fish burger, with fries and a pop with unlimited refills for under $8. The fries are DELICIOUS! As are the onion rings. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The "booths" feel like plywood and have no pads so it can be uncomfy. They serve beer here as well.

I frequent this Fred Meyer on average about 3 times a week. Its convenient to my home, easy to find parking and reasonably priced. I mainly purchase food here and sometimes beauty products. The food prices are comparable to Safeway and often are even less. The store is always clean and well kept. Sale items are often low, but tend to be promptly restocked. The produce is always fresh and nicely displayed. They have an average selection of organic produce as well. I've never been a fan of the deli, the meat and cheese doesn't look any different from the pre-sliced and packaged variety. The bakery has a nice variety of standard and specialty cakes and the popular bake it yourself french bread. Beauty products are average priced and they frequently on sale with with coupons placed throughout aisles. The staff are average, some are more helpful than others.

I have been going to Larsen's Bakery since I was a kid. The donuts are always light and fluffy, croissants are crusty with a delicate butter flavor and the bread and rolls are delicious. Prices are reasonable, with donuts around 75-85 cents. Croissants are around $1.40. They always have a nice range of cakes and specialty items. The espresso varies with every worker. Sometimes I get a great strong americano, other workers pull shots that taste like watered down drip. The manager who works the morning shift, often appears annoyed with customers and Ive often felt guilty being served. However, I put up with her attitude for the delicious bakery items! The store itself is long overdue for a good scrub down and/or makeover. You can tell the place is popular and often busy by the dirty chairs, tables and floors. The day old rack is full of bargains, with 4 croissants (2 chocolate and 2 plain) costing just $1.50. You have to get there early for the best day old deals. Larsen's is a Ballard fixture with a loyal following, a definite visit for any Seattle-ite.

The Hi-Life is my new favorite breakfast spot in Ballard! We usually go on Sunday mornings, there is always a wait. Everyone from young hip twenty-somethings recovering from a hangover to retired folk migrate here. The atmosphere, food and prices appeal to everyone. The atmosphere itself is wide open and airy. They have kept a few traces of the old firehouse in the decorative touches. Service is always impeccable. Coffee is strong and yummy. There is a twisted spin on the standard breakfast menu. The standard omelette's, biscuits and gravy and the BEST pancakes I have ever had. Breakfast prices range from $4.75-10.50. Happy hour is fun too. Wood fired pizzas for $3, nice plate of spreads and crispy chips for $3, and a variety of drinks for $3.

I'm fortunate enough to have a boss that buys myself and my co-workers lunch once a week. We frequently have Romio's delivered. We order pizzas, salad and bread sticks. The pizzas are consistently good, nice toppings and yummy crust. The spinach and greek salads are always good. However the standard dinner salad is iceberg lettuce that doesn't always look too fresh. The bread sticks have a nice garlic butter spread, but the bread can often taste old. Delivery at lunch time is 99% on time. Dining in house is a standard experience. The interior decorative effects create a somewhat dark and depressing atmosphere. It is not always as clean as it could be. Parking can be hard as there are only a few spots for Romios and the McDonalds next door is very strict about their lot. Stick with the pizza and you are good to go!
