Mmmmm......Donuts 10/15/2006

I have been going to Larsen's Bakery since I was a kid. The donuts are always light and fluffy, croissants are crusty with a delicate butter flavor and the bread and rolls are delicious. Prices are reasonable, with donuts around 75-85 cents. Croissants are around $1.40. They always have a nice range of cakes and specialty items. The espresso varies with every worker. Sometimes I get a great strong americano, other workers pull shots that taste like watered down drip. The manager who works the morning shift, often appears annoyed with customers and Ive often felt guilty being served. However, I put up with her attitude for the delicious bakery items! The store itself is long overdue for a good scrub down and/or makeover. You can tell the place is popular and often busy by the dirty chairs, tables and floors. The day old rack is full of bargains, with 4 croissants (2 chocolate and 2 plain) costing just $1.50. You have to get there early for the best day old deals. Larsen's is a Ballard fixture with a loyal following, a definite visit for any Seattle-ite. more
