My family visits Frankenmuth every year and we never miss a chance to go shopping in the stores located on the lower level of the Bavarian Inn Restaurant. There are 7 stores below the restaurant: Doll & Toy Shop, Royal Gift Shop, Castle Bakery, The Chocolate Shop & Candy Kitchen, Souvenirs & Cheers Gift Shop, Wine & Beer Cellar, and Court Jester's Cafe. Although some items might be a little more pricey for some it's well worth it as all the shops carry unusual and unique gifts for everyone. The Doll & Toy shop has a "doll hospital" where little girls & boys can make their own custom dolls. The Royal Gift Shop has personalized gifts for most names as well as unique gifts for that hard to shop for person. The Castle Bakery offers a wide variety of baked goods and is well known for it's stolen bread. You can find all sorts of tasty goodies in the Chocolate Shop & Candy Kitchen. You'll find the perfect token to remind you of your trip to Frankenmuth at the Souvenirs & Cheers Gift Shop. They also have a wide array of nostalgic items. I'm partial to the Wine & Beer Cellar as it has TONS of hard to find, imported, wine and beer. You'll find wind and beer from all over the world there. And to finish out your trip through the shops is the Court Jester's Cafe where you can grab a bite to eat before hitting the town of Frankenmuth for more shopping and sight seeing. The restaurant itself offers a large menu with tons of choices for everyone, including kids. Their biggest seller is the "all you can eat" chicken dinner that's served like a 4 or 5 course meal. You can't go wrong with the Bavarian Inn.

The Looney Baker has been in the same location for as long as I can remember. The store is pretty small and frequented by local regulars and by the Oakland County Sheriffs so it's always busy. They have lots of different tasty treats to choose from - doughnuts, bagles, croissants, muffins, etc. All made right there in the store. Their hours are unusual so you have to get there in the morning or you'll miss them, but they're worth the trip!

This restaurant is really nice. The interior is decorated with really nice art prints that give the whole place a really classy feel without being snooty. The bar area and the restaurant area are close together but not so close as to really interfere each other. The menu is diverse, there's something for everyone. The prices are average for your nicer sit down restaurant type place but they can be offset by the coupons they send out in the mail. I like this restaurant because they participate in fundraising programs for the local schools. They donate a portion of the money they make on certain nights to various schools. It's really a win-win for everyone.

This store just opened near my home. The promotional prices they run for the first few weeks are amazing! A haircut for about 3.00 is the best deal around! And it's not some cheesy, dumb looking haircut either, the girls really do a great job. My stylist was great. I told her what I wanted to be able to do with my hair when she was done and for once someone finally got it right! I've never had a bad hair day since, honestly! I totally recommend this place to everyone.

DTE will always be Pine Knob to me. But that's beside the point. This is a great place to see a concert because you have so many seating options. There isn't a bad seat anywhere in the pavilion and on the grass you can be as close or far away from those around you as you want. Lawn seating, which is first come first served, isn't particularly comfortable because you're sitting on the grass but it's tolerable and if you're seeing your favourite band in concert are you really going to be seated for that? Besides the lawn seats are privy to the three 9 X 12 video screens and the two giant screens that are located on either side of the stage. I've never had a bad experience seeing a concert there. The sound is always great as is the lighting. The food and drink selections are pretty good too. My only gripe is the price of concert tickets to the bands I want to see is really expensive but then they're pretty popular right now so that's to be expected. Pine Knob, oops, DTE, also pass out a TON of vouchers for the lesser popular bands they book. For those, I believe, you only have to pay the $3 "parking" fee (which is per person now, not per car like it used to be) and then you are allowed a lawn seat. Now that's a great inexpensive way to see some of your old favourite bands.

This place has great pizza and then some. They offer chicken (in various styles: broasted, fingers, etc.) and lasagna as well. The staff is very friendly and it's always a pleasant experience when I visit there. I've also found that if I save 8 of their stamped pizza box flaps I'll get a free 14" pizza! What better bonus could there be?

This shop's name might be misleading as they aren't a one hour store anymore, however, they do get the job done quickly! In most cases your clothes will be cleaned, pressed, and ready to go the next day by 4 pm. Sometimes they can get things done even more quickly if you're in a rush. I saw one girl bring in a wrinkled formal gown that she was to wear in a wedding later that day and they steamed the wrinkles out of it on the spot and charged her under $10 for it! Now that's service. They also offer leather cleaning, laundered shirt service, alterations, repairs, and bridal gown preservation. Not everything is done in the store but what they have to send out comes back in a reasonable amount of time. The prices are reasonable and on Wednesdays and Thursdays you can get 50% off of your incoming order if you prepay for the order and if you have a coupon (that's reusable) from the local monthly shopper. They also offer a 30% discount all the time if your oder is over $30. They give a AAA discount as well, although you can't use all the discounts at once (only one at a time). I recommend this place for all of your dry cleaning needs.

I've NEVER had a bad experience at this store. The staff is always helpful and friendly. Living up to it's name, there are photos of Elvis everywhere and his music is always being played. They have a wide selection of items and I almost always find what I'm looking for (sometimes I even find things I wasn't looking for). Their price for bagged ice and pizza slices CAN NOT be beat! I got a 20 POUND bag of ice for $1.50 and a HUGE slice of pizza for $0.99.

This Dairy Queen has been around since I was a kid (so for at least 20 years) and not much has changed about it, which is a good thing in this case. The staff is pretty friendly and there's plenty of seating. Even if the lines are long they always move quickly. They never seem to be understaffed. This is definitely where you want to go in the summertime for a special treat.

The Farmington Health Care Center is the perfect choice if your family is faced with the difficult decision of having to place a loved one into long term care. FHCC houses anyone needing care, from elderly persons to people on ventilators. The staff is great. Everyone is very friendly and caring. The ventilator floor has respiatory therapists 24 hours a day, in addition to the standard nurses, nurse aides, housekeepers, and physical therapists. FHCC is different from other nursing homes because when you walk in, there's NO smell. FHCC does an amazing job making itself feel like home rather than a hospital or nursing home.
