I like to drink lots of Orange Juice this time of year to stay healthy (or to get healthy again...sigh). I recently tried Trader Joe's Orange Juice, and their store brand is awfully sour. I tried attributing it to the sugar-less, fresh blend they promote, but I'm guessing they probably just used under-ripe, sub-par oranges. Oh well.

Wet n'...Wild, I know!
So for the most part, I am an advocate of spending the money to get the quality product. Especially if spending a few extra dollars means healthier food or more socially-conscious Christmas gifts....

But sometimes spending less will get you just as much...and in my opinion, nail polish definitely falls into that category.
Now let me clarify: I am not a manicurist. My nail polish tends to chip off ten minutes after I paint it on while I wash dishes or type reviews (wink). But for the toesies, brands like Wet n' Wild seem to have a plethora of colors, and don't fade or chip until you're ready for them to go. So if you're looking for a pretty pedicure, I recommend Wet n' Wild. Plus you'll get to feel like a middle-schooler again. Heck, why not pay with the change you find in the couch.

Recently I discovered their Ginger Spread, a ginger alternative to jam that is heavenly. I have spread it on crackers, cooked with it in sauces, and (this is perfection) eaten it with peanut butter in oatmeal. You will not understand how good this is until you try it.

I worked at a natural pet food store for a while, and I had to learn far too much about what is healthy for pets. At first, I suspected that it was a market for upper-middle-class families with too much money and pet-love on their hands, but I was soon convinced otherwise.
Healthy pet food translates into less pet waste, fewer trips to the vet, feeding your pet less, and a longer, more vital life span. Traditional pet foods were developed to be transportable for service dogs during the World War, and thus were more for portability than health. Most foods are filled with fillers and carbohydrates that are like junk food to your pet. Consider feeding them meatier, more thoughtful food to keep them around longer, and probably not spend much more money in the long run.

I'll admit it. When Tutta Bella first opened I probably ate there twice a week on average. I'll admit it, I loved their food. But something changed for me. Maybe it was when their exceptionally reasonable prices went up; or when their wait for a table rose to half an hour on a weekday night; or maybe I just didn't find their food interesting anymore. In any case, I still find their pizzas and salads adequate. I wouldn't say no to a free dinner there. But there are other, more unique and delicious places to go.
And their service is alternately fantastic or terrible.

Paseo is currently the absolute top of my list for best sandwich in the city. The crusty bread, tender marinated pork, succulent caramelized onions and jalapenos, and crisp lettuce all combine to make a completely satisfying, non-greasy, delicious meal for a fair price. I know, I know: there's never anywhere to sit, and they only take cash. And once when I got take-out there, I ended up eating with chopsticks because they were out of forks. But we like that fusion food in Seattle, don't we?
