St. Giles is an excellent Catholic church. I have been going there for years, and I have learned a lot. I find that the priests deliver thoughtful and inspiring sermons that have practical applications in my life. I also like the fact that St. Giles has a Saturday evening Mass, which frees up Sunday mornings if I have guests or whatever.

I was in need of a new dentist after I moved, so I checked the phone book and decided to call Dr. Kao after I saw his ad. He bills himself as a dentist for people who don't like going to the dentist. That's me, so I gave him a try. Dr. Kao was excellent, and had a very friendly bedside manner. However, his assistant on that day was not nice at all. She was very short with me, impatient, and not very understanding. Maybe it was just a bad day for her. I won't let that experience stop me from going back to Dr. Kao's office.

I needed all four of my wisdom teeth removed, so I went to Dr. Chin on the recommendation of my regular dentist. I was very nervous about the impending surgery, but Dr. Chin explained everything to me and put me at ease. I didn't have any problems during or after the surgery, and I didn't have any billing problems either. They accepted my insurance, so everything worked out great. I recommend Dr. Chin!

But that's not all they carry; they do have some mainstream titles, but not as many as you would find in other bookstores. One thing I really like about Logo's is that they carry titles from local authors, which is great.

I think you can get an appetizer, main course, and a couple of alcohol drinks (beer or wine) for $40 per person or less. This is a nice place to take a date because it's pretty low-key.

The Schaumburg Flyers are a AA minor league baseball team that plays at Alexian Field in Schaumburg. Minor League baseball is a fun alternative to driving all the way into the city to see the Cubs or White Sox. The tickets, parking, and concessions at Flyers' games are cheaper than at the major league parks. A family of four can enjoy a game with food and drinks for $50 or $60, which I think is a great value. It's a fun time!

Barbara's Bookstore is a nice alternative to the huge chains like B&N or Border's. Barbara's started out in Oak Park many years ago, and they are still going strong. They always have a lot of titles in stock, and tend to carry a few more "unknown" authors than you would find at the large chain stores. In addition, they always have some kind of sale going on, so you can find discount books all the time. It's a nice place to go and browse for books.

Pet Rescue is a no-kill animal shelter here in Bloomingdale. That means when they take in a stray or unwanted pet, they take care of it for its entire life. So if you want a new pet, you should consider adopting from Pet Rescue to ease their burden a bit. Or if you just like animals, maybe you can volunteer your time or make a small donation to help keep the shelter running. They really need renovations from what I can see. I hope they can keep the place up and running.
