Shopping at Sunglass Hut is never a disappointing experience. They always have a fantastic assortment of the best name-brand sunglasses, such as Oakley, Ray-Ban, Gucci, Armani, and more. The store itself is very small and can feel a bit uncomfortable on weekends if there are lots of other shoppers in there, but otherwise this is always my first stop when I want to check out some new sunglasses.

Like most people, I was first attracted to LensCrafters because of their one-hour guarantee. Since they are located in the mall, I thought it would be a perfect setup because I could go shopping while I waited.
Well, that part of the equation worked out fine, but I have to say I was pretty disappointed in the frame selection that this particular store had. They didn't have very many styles that I liked, so I had to choose frames that I wasn't crazy about. As a result, I never really warmed to my new glasses and hated wearing them.
My advice is to bring shop for frames somewhere else, and then bring them to LensCrafters for the lenses. That would probably work out better for you.

I have been taking my dog to the Bloomingdale Animal Hospital for several years now. The vet is very friendly and thorough with the examinations, and the support staff are always pleasant as well....
I have been taking my dog to the Bloomingdale Animal Hospital for several years now. The vet is very friendly and thorough with the examinations, and the support staff are always pleasant as well. They also offer emergency service, which gives me peace of mind since my beagle has a tendency to get into trouble! The prices are probably slightly higher than you would pay at those national chain pet stores that also offer vet services, but you get more personalized attention here.

Mrs. Field's cookies are hands-down the best I've ever had. They taste great when they're fresh out of the oven, so before I buy, I always ask the cashier when the next batch of my favorites will be ready. The white chocolate macadamia nut cookies are to die for, but all of the other ones are delicious too. Don't forget that Mrs. Field's has gift tins available, so if you need to buy a small gift in a hurry, this is a great option.

If you like shopping in the downtown Oak Park section right there on Lake St., then Rock L's is a good place to go to sit down for a while and grab a bite to eat. The food is fast, reasonably tasty, and is very cheap. Occasionally it gets a little crowded on weekday afternoons with high school kids from down the street, but usually I've had no problems getting in there and enjoying a burger or hot dog.

Michael's Beef House is a fast food place that serves up Italian beef sandwiches, hot dogs, polishes, fries, pizza slices, etc. I usually get the regular Italian beef sandwiches or a pizza slice when I go there, and I'm never disappointed. I love the french fries, too. Although the Italian beef is not as good as, say, Portillo's, it's still delicious and is one of the best items on the menu.
Another thing that I like about Michael's is that the prices haven't gone up too much over the years and you get huge quantities of food. I never have to spend more than $6 or $7 to get more food than I can eat!

Goldyburger's has one of the best hamburgers in the area. They are huge, come with lots of fresh toppings, and are a good bargain price-wise. This place has been around for a couple of decades (ever since I can remember as a kid). I would say that it's more of a pub than a restaurant, but people regularly bring their children there (although I haven't/wouldn't).
There are also other items on the menu if you want to give those a try, but I think most people stick with the burgers.

Washington Mutual has only been in this area for about 3 years or so. I signed up with them when they first opened, and I have been very impressed with the service. This particular branch is tiny and isn't anything fancy, but the location is convenient (right next to a grocery store) which makes it easy to pick up some cash before I go shopping. In addition, Wamu offers free online banking with all of the features you would expect.

I have never gone to this currency exchange to actually get foreign currency. Instead, I've found that this is a convenient place to get a lot of different things done. For example, I can renew my license plate stickers here, I can have documents notarized, and I can cash checks (for a fee, of course).
I like going to this particular currency exchange because it's a newer one, it has a great location, and there's plenty of parking available in the strip mall.

The Bloomingdale Public Library has undergone several improvements in recent years, but I feel it still falls short of offering the same services that other libraries in the area are able to offer. First of all, the book collection isn't as big as other libraries, which means you often have to wait while the library requests the book you want from a different place. This is inconvenient, to say the least. In addition, there aren't very many computer terminals with Internet access. This means if you go during peak hours (evenings and weekends), you'll probably have to wait to get on a computer.
