This park's grounds are not upkept the best - the grass is patchy and is kind of hard to walk on. However it is well used and there are always people here. My son went here for after-school care and the staff were friendly enough and really seemed to care about the kids - not just another job. This location also has an indoor pool - a rarity in Chicago.

They also have a playground and various programs, including a summer camp and a building with a gym. Nicely upkept park, better than others.

This park is nice on the eyes when you've seen too many skyscrapers and dirty streets. It has a beautiful fountain that people sometimes sit by, and they have playgrounds for the kids. They have basketball courts that are often full, but you can probably get in on a pick-up game. It's near both the Gold Coast and Cabrini Green housing projects, so it's a good mix of the city.

This camp goes on a lot of field trips, plus they play games all day long and the kids have a blast using their energy. They played baseball, basketball, dodgeball, volleyball, football, swimming, and more. The teens who led the camps seemed well-supervised and really worked to keep the kids busy. However, this camp is not easy to swallow if you're there all summer. It's $150+ per kid, which really adds up over 10 weeks.

There are so many parks in Skokie, and I think this district does a great job. They are always looking nice and they have great grassy areas, playgrounds for kids, and ball parks for those interested in competion. They have an ice skating rink, two pools, and a cultural arts center. Hard to beat, you can find a park a few blocks from most any home in town. Better than anywhere I've ever lived!

There is a bike/walking path, and nearly 100 sculptures in all media, from concrete and metal to wood and plastic. Some are big enough kids can climb on them. A very nice way to spend a weekend day in the spring, summer or fall!

The Skokie Water playground has a great selection of ways to get wet - they have a couple of cool slides that you use tubes on, plus they've got a zero depth entry pool with sprinklers for little kids. They also have an area where you can climb up on a playground-type area. And there's a lap pool for those who actually came to swim. A little expensive, but really nice.

This location recently underwent serious renovations to match the new neighbors. Looks very nice, and my car came out looking great the one time I used it. Not cheap though, and I've heard from friends that when they went in with change in their cars, it was gone or significant amounts were missing when it came out. Just a warning. Overall, though, a nice place.
