I went here for a few years when my mom wanted me out of the public schools. I got a good education and made some good friends. I learned about the same stuff as the people in public school, but got some Bible teaching, as well. They still have alumni meetings I get invited to. A welcoming community.

This church is getting a new pastor soon. However, they have had a ministry to the poor for years and it's really affecting people, if you have time to volunteer. They have a soup kitchen and overnight shelter once a week. They have hundreds of people in need who come and depend on the services provided, and it's really amazing to see it all come together.

You should really check this church out. The congregation is diverse, which is unsual on the north shore. The pastor is very friendly and willing to talk to anyone. They have great programs for families, like AWANA and children's plays. We visited a couple of times before we moved away, and if we had stayed I would've liked to attend. Good theology.

I came here for college and left with an associate's degree. I had some good teachers and got good grades and good instruction, and left with a good job. I wish, though, I had been able to stay for a bachelor's degree, but when you're middle class you can't get much financial aid. I am still paying them, years later. But overall a great learning experience.

This is kind of like Sam's Club, except it's mostly all food. They do not have clothes, computers, etc. You can come here and get mass quantities of noodles, very fresh meats and produce, breads, even frozen pizzas and other frozen items. They sell to a lot of smaller stores. You do need a membership, we have one through my job, which is nice. I enjoy coming here just to see what they have.

This is my favorite thrift shop in the city. One bonus is that it is all on one floor, while many are on 2 or three in other places. They seem to get a good selection of high-quality merchandise/clothing. The name brands are usually in good condition. Also, they get unsold merchandise from Target, and sometimes you can get some good bargains. Worth stopping by if there's something you need but don't want to pay retail.

They have a nice selection of clothing, though, for the whole family, and they often have a lot of nice looking furniture available, as well. I like to come here just to browse and see what kind of bargains are available.

They expose them to many different ideas that they may have never considered - dance, theater, fine arts, painting, etc. Teachers really seem to care about the kids, a good Chicago Public School!

We have used this shop to frame kids artwork at my job and it always comes out looking very professional. Only catch is this shop is not cheap. If you come here for personal work, be prepared to pay quite a lot. I was surprised that you have to pay this much for framing. But, they really do it right and I can't complain about the work I've seen. Great job.
