Dissappointing

I like the Sweet Lorraine's in Livonia. They are probably my second or third favorite place to get food when I am there. The Sweet Lorraines in Downtown Detroit was a complete letdown.
First, parking is kind of a hassle, but it is across the street from the RenCen, so if you get off the people mover there or park there you can walk here easily. Second, Sweet Lorraine's is the hotel bar for the Marriott Courtyard. This means that if you need to use the restroom, you better have a door key or else you have to go to the front desk and ask. Third, I went in for drinks with a date and the barstaff was very slow and had no idea how to mix drinks. They were literally reading the ingredients off of the menu. I asked for a DeWars on the rocks and the bartender didn't know what I was talking about. I had to point to the bottle for him. Finally, even though this place was in downtown Detroit, the decor was really tacky and felt very fake, like they were trying too hard. Simple elegance goes a long way.
If you want to get good food and/or drinks in that part of downtown, head over to Seldom Blues or Andiamo Riverfront, both in the RenCen across the street.
