I got a hair cut for under 30 bucks with tip (unfortunately no student rate). I was getting tired of my long knotty hair so decided to cut it short. Margarita cut my hair and she did an awesome job giving it a little body (it has none). The ladies who work there are fun to talk to. Check it out!

Its ok. The atmosphere is unique, very Bavarian. The service was quick and friendly. The food... ehh. I got the veggie burger, def not the "best veggie burgers in town". Both the burger and the fries were overdone. The burger was over charred and the fries were too crisp. The coleslaw was good. My husband said his sausage was good but not big enough to warrant the name "junk yard" Its probably a good place for a couple beers with friends but I don't think the food is worth a stop.

The coffee is really good (albeit a bit pricey- $1.75 for a medium) and the cookies are addictive. I love the dark cozy atmosphere of the place and there is plenty of natural light from the skylights. The music is a bit loud at times but I find it helps drone out convo from other tables and keeps me focused on my readings for school.
My one big complaint... horribly hours. Pretty much open only in the mornings and afternoons. But if you want a place to hang out b/t classes, its worth waiting in line for some coffee!

Ok my husband and I arrived there close to 9 on a Tuesday night. We had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. THATS how crowded this place is. But we didn't care. We love Indian food and were excited to try something new. Plus they gave us ice water while we waited which was a nice gesture. There were tons of people there (as I said) but the atmosphere was nice enough. And the food was excellent. My only complaint was the samosas were a little greasy but not horribly so and they didn't have tomato chutney (but they did have the mint and tamarind- yum!). The nan bread was really good- tasted really fresh. We got the entrées level 4 spicy (out of 5) and they were the perfect level of punch. Really not unreasonably priced for ethnic food. All in all we will be returning. I'd just recommend hitting an off time though to avoid the crowds.

Ok I love ethnic foods and both my husband and I were excited to try Afghan food for the first time. Let me start by saying the ambiance of the place was so nice. It is a very cozy and romantic place to have dinner. But the food... first off all the food we ordered was saturated with this garlic yogurt sauce. The sauce is good but not good enough to warrant so much of it. And my eggplant from my main entrée was so soggy it was almost liquid. Kinda gross. All in all the food isn't bad... maybe 3 stars... but as you have to take into account the price- for 15-20 bucks an entrée it should be a whole lot better!

For a chain restaurant it really is pretty good. It should be noted that I've had a better burger but still, the burgers are big and satisfying as you would want them. They have lots of different styles to choose from (from barbecue to teriyaki to tex-mex) and all come with really good potatey fries. A great place to just hang out with friends and be casual. For a meal under 10 bucks you can't complain.

We went to Ray's Cafe and wow. The rolls taste homemade, the hummus is seriously the best I've ever had (with a nice lemon splash), the salads are large and hearty, and the desserts are warm, sweet and comforting. But the fish entrées are really the stars... they were so fresh and were flavored perfectly. I got the blackened rockfish and it had just the right amount of spice so not to overpower the taste of the fish but still add a nice kick. The service was great, despite how crowded the place was (make sure to make reservations). Originally we had planned to eat outside, but the hostess suggested we sit inside to avoid the cold wind from the water. We took the advice and were satisfied with the warm ambiance of the interior (filled with lighthouse pictures and a fireplace). All in all, a great place to take an out-of-town guest you want to impress!

We took the locks cruise during sunset. Seeing the city as well as the mountains at twilight made it worth every penny (it is fairly expensive). This was a birthday gift so I guess its easy for me to say but I wouldn't regret paying for it. The trip was so romantic and beautiful.
The tour guides were pretty informative and the crew was friendly. I think its great for both tourists and locals. You learn a little bit of trivia and if you are new to the area a lot about the different neighborhoods of Seattle. It gives you a good sense of the city. But besides all that, its just fun to go out on a boat trip once in a while and see the salmon jump! :)

Seriously one of the better zoos in the nation (I've been to maybe 10 all over the country). The exhibits are well done- very habitat specific for the animals at hand. I appreciated that areas of the zoo are divided by habitat/continent so as you walk around you feel like you are walking around the world. The nocturnal house is really cool and well done. But my favorite exhibit was the gorilla one. What majestic beautiful animals. I could spend all day watching them.
My major complaint about the zoo is the signage. I felt a little cheated on learning the natural history (being the wildlife dork that i am). There were docents (trained volunteers) walking around to answer questions though. The raptor show was a good addition too because it brought a message of local conservation to the public.
Since I don't have kids I did skip the petting zoo and the Zoomazium. I see in other reviews that people felt the Zoomazium is unsafe/pointless. I wouldn't be surprised if that was true but why focus on the rides or the Zoomazium when you have all this really neat wildlife to observe! If I had kids I definitely would bring them here. But even if you don't have kids, if you have any interest in animals this is a great spot to stop and check out.

I love the atmosphere here. Its almost worth the cost of the food just to sit in this place. Almost.
My husband and I went here for my birthday. We got tempura (good but not great- a little too coated and heavy), miso soup (great- hard to mess up), and edamame (great but again hard to mess up). Now the sushi was delicious, I don't deny it, but honestly I've tasted fresher. Also I like to regulate the amount of wasabi that is used to flavor the sushi but they had so much rolled in it that it overpowered the taste of most of the fish.
I probably would have given the place 4 stars except it was so expensive (even for a sushi restaurant). All in all, the service and atmosphere was great, but the food was not worth the cost. We will be searching for a sushi restaurant in Seattle that is better valued.
