Chino Latino - What an experience! I visited this restaurant recently with a large group of work colleagues and we all had a great time. We began the evening with drinks at the bar. I started off with a margarita - and it was a VERY strong margarita!! There is a lengthy list of specialty drinks and the bar appeared to be well stocked with many types of beer and liquor. One thing interesting about this restaurant is the running 'theme' - and by that I mean that everywhere you look there is a double meaning or crude reference. Whether it be the waiter's t-shirts or the names of drinks or the dessert menu, it's hard to miss. I thought it was kind of funny, but it could offend as well so be careful about that.
The food is all over the board as far as what type of food it is. But I would say that it leans towards asian/mexican. There are noodle dishes, there are seafood dishes, there is spicy food and not so spicy food (nothing is really bland, though). There is also meat on a stick, served similar to the way it would be served at a brazilian steakhouse where the chef brings it on a stick and cuts it at the table for you. The food is served family style so that you can order a couple of dishes and share with everyone.
This prices seemed a little high, so a visit to this restaurant would likely be more of a treat than a regular visit, but it is definitely an experience! I probably wouldn't have been able to try as much as I did if I had to pay for it myself. :)
Also, Chino Latino is in the Uptown neighborhood of Minneapolis which is kind of the trendy area where there is a lot of nightlife.

The Sofitel Minneapolis is a very nice hotel geared towards business travelers and conferences. It is actually in Bloomington, MN, which is a near suburb of Minneapolis and I was recently there for a work conference. The thing I love the most at this Sofitel is their beds. They are soft and luxurious and you can just wrap yourself in the wonderful duvet and never want to come out again! All of the staff was very friendly and helpful. The room service was quick and the food hot. The conference services were also good - the food was enjoyable. The fitness room was well-equipped with free weights, weight machines and four pieces of cardio equipment. Everything about the hotel has a French/European flair to it. I believe that this Sofitel was recently renovated, the only hints of the age of the building was a very faint moldy smell in some places. It is a little pricey at almost $200/night, but if work pays for it, I'll not need too much convincing to stay there again! ;)

Most of my banking is done through the Atlanta Postal Credit Union. I am a member through my mother who works for the postal service. They offer good rates and I have had great experience with them through the last 10 years or so. I have both a savings and checking account. Obviously there are no local branches so my deposits are all mailed in or direct deposit. Their website is also very useful. They also offer loans and other services. I had a loan with them as well at one point and had no problems.

I bank at Chase (formerly Bank One) locally. I have both a savings account and a checking account though I really only use the savings account so that I can get cash through atms. I have never had a problem locating a Chase atm and since I refuse to use a different atm and pay a crazy fee, this is very useful! I have used a variety of branches over the past 6 years and have always had good customer service. When there is a line it usually moves fairly quickly.

Zeta-Jones is not the reason why I use T-Mobile and that's the truth. It started because they donated money to my church for signing up and I haven't regretted it at all. I have received great cellular service all over the nation. The only difficulties come when I head back to the rural area that I grew up in. Their customer service is also very good. When I've had any type of problems (billing, reception, etc.), I've had no trouble getting the help I needed. The plan prices are competitive too.

Comcast is my internet provider and I've experienced pretty good service with them thus far. I had a discount for signing up for the first four months and the regular price is reasonable. Anytime I've had problems, I've called the help desk and been able to solve the problem. I also have wireless internet and the combination of the two is simply wonderful! I love not being attached to a cable all the time.

I visited Kasia's Bridal today looking for a Mother of the Bride dress for (& with) my mom. Even with the address, the store is a little difficult to locate because it also goes by the name of K&K Dressmaking which is the more prominent name on the small storefront. Once inside the store we were greeted immediately and shown where we could look at the dresses. It was very difficult to get through the dresses, in fact a rack of dresses had to be moved to the side to see what we were interested in. However, we did find some very nice dresses although were disappointed with high prices. All in all I think this is a very good store - it has a great selection of Mother of the Bride dresses and also offers wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses in addition to in house alterations. The owner was also a great help. The store would benefit greatly from a larger space to display dresses and serve customers. Also note that you should make an appointment before going to the store, especially if you go on a Saturday.

One of the newer pubs on the block is Kuma's Corner in the Logan Square neighborhood. I think it's probably about a year old, but I finally got around to visiting it recently. The food is outstanding! Their eclectic appetizer menu includes bacon wrapped scallops (huge scallops!) that were very good. A grilled chicken sandwich is definitely not boring with their lemon marinade. The sandwich is served with fries or chips or you can substitute a salad for extra money. I chose the fries and they were delicious! Another interesting entrée is their macaroni and cheese which is made with several kinds of cheese and you pick two items out of a list to mix in with the mac 'n cheese. It's a huge serving (our waitress said she'd never seen anyone finish it) so you'll have leftovers for future enjoyment! Kuma's is also known for it's good selection of beer in bottles and on tap.
I definitely recommend this place!

Qdoba has nothing on Chipotle as far as burritos go. I finally tried this place last week and was surprised at the difference. The chicken burrito has so little flavor - it was very plain. The mild salsa had very good tomatoes in it though, nice and ripe. Qdoba has a large menu that offers quesadillas, salads and desserts and they also have a breakfast menu. Their prices are also reasonable. All in all, this seems like a good place for fast food Mexican, but if I am craving a good burrito, I'm going to Chipotle.

Blockbuster has a good movie selection and a location that's close to me. This particular location also has a parking lot which makes it easier to travel to. The employees were helpful and checked to see if a movie I wanted was in the return pile and had not yet been shelved. All in all, Blockbuster is a bit higher priced than I would like, but it serves the purpose.
