Usually, when people think of buffets, they think of a free for all feeding frenzy where only OK food is served in crowded and unpleasant atmospheres. Well, if that's what you think of most Chinese buffets, think again and try East. East is a buffet serving Chinese food such as appetizers, soups, and entrées. East also features a hibachi station, peking duck station, prime rib station(at dinner),many varieties of Chinese salads and fruits and veggies, foods of other cuisines(like American and Italian) and a dessert station too!On 4/10/2007, I was in the mood for Asian food. Since I was in the Huntington area about to shop at Walt Whitman Mall, I decided to stop here for lunch with my Mom. When we entered East, I was impressed with the atmosphere. First off, the tables and booths were spaced well(unlike at Minado where you were squished together), it was clean(restrooms included) as well, and the many windows in the restaurant allowed the sunshine in. Now, onto the food. At most buffets, the food sits out for a long time, this wasn't the case at East, instead all the food was fresh and replenished constantly. First, I sampled authentic Chicken and Broccoli, tender Chinese Filet Mignon, and steamy Broccoli Rabe. After that, I sampled fresh California Rolls that tasted like they were made 1 minute ago and succulent Peking Duck with sweet hoisin sauce on the side. Then, I made a salad with lettuce, tomato, and cucumber, the veggies in this salad were crisp and fresh the way they should be. An array of sinful pastries, an ice cream from the machine, jiggly jellow cubes and fresh and sweet in season fruits reward diners. All in all, it was a satisfying and delicious lunch. Not only was the food good, the service was too, friendly busboys and waiters brought beverages and removed dirty plates quickly. When I was done eating, the price came out to an extremely reasonable $12.15, but that is only because my Mom didn't eat. All in all, East is an awesome buffet that delivers an awesome value.

When most of us think of a diner, they think of a greasy spoon that only serve burgers and breakfasts in atmospheres one step less generic than I-HOP or Dennys. The Harvest Diner is located at 841 Old Country Rd, Westbury, NY,11590. It's open 24 hours on weekends and until 2:00 AM on weekdays due to the fact of less business on weeknights, however, the Majestic Diner near the Source Mall, which is nowhere near as good, is open 24 hours everyday if you have a severe diner craving, otherwise, Harvest is the place to go. On my most recent visit on 10/28/06, I ate lunch with my grandparents. When we entered, the atmosphere had a retro 50's like feeling. We were then greeted by our friendly hosts, the Savaa family. At the table, a complimentary breadbasket of breads and rolls were a welcoming touch. After we were seated, our friendly waitress took our orders. I chose a Complete succulent Grilled Chicken Breast Meal which included soup or salad, the entrée, dessert, and a beverage, my grandma ordered a the Harvest Grilled Chicken Sandwich I recommended, and my grandpa ordered a surprisingly excellent Philly Cheese steak. with fries and a warming bowl of Manhattan Clam Chowder. Complete meals at the Harvest include sides such as crispy French Fries, Hearty Zucchini in a tomato based broth, baked potatoes,Salad and many more. I also recommend the gourmet style French Dip and more. A wide range of non alcoholic and alcoholic beverages alike are available. Their freshly squeezed O.J., which hits the spot at any meal, tasted like it came straight from Florida. For dessert, freshly baked cakes and pies are available as is Hershey's Ice Cream, which is my personal favorite brand of ice cream and a reason alone that I come here for as Hershey's ice cream isn't available in many locations. Whether you're craving a home style breakfast, an authentic Greek specialty, or anything else available here, Harvest Diner will always hit the spot.

Tucked away on the outskirts of Roosevelt Field Mall is an authentic Japanese farmhouse transported from its native land. It serves as the home of Gasho, a Japanese hibachi steakhouse. For the second time, I visited Gasho of Japan with my mom and my grandparents on 6/15/06. When we entered, we got a seat at our hibachi table. A friendly Japanese waitress took our orders. My mother just had a salad, I shared a Samurai Combo for 2 with my grandma, and my grandpa had steak and scallops. First, everyone but my mom got the Japanese Onion Soup to start out with. The soup was mellow and comforting. Salad came along with our soup too. Unlike Shiro or Benihana, the salad greens and veggies were fresh and crisp. Next, our chef came out to cook and pull some tricks out of his hat. Unfortunately, the chef didn't light the grill on fire or perform the Onion Volcano, but he tossed a few veggies into my mouth and sang a Japanese version of We Will Rock You, so those other tricks made up for the lack of the fire trick. Next, we all got our hibachi meals. My grandma and I thought the filet mignon was juicy and cooked just right along with veggies such as broccoli, mushrooms, onions, and zucchini. The chicken that was also on the Samurai Combo was seasoned just right and tender. After we ate our main courses, I mentioned that it was my grandparents anniversary. Our waitress and friendly manager, Milly, brought out two bowls of ice cream(*it's included with the Samurai Combo*), one with candle and sang "If You're Happy and you Know It" in Japanese. All in all it was a good anniversary celebration.
Unfortunately, the atmosphere was slightly disappointing. This was due to cramming all the hibachi tables together. Otherwise, it was peaceful with Japanese music playing in the background. All in all, Gasho is a better choice for hibachi than Shiro or Benihana due to warm and friendly people and better food.

Sorry to say that I must take back the praise that I've previously heaped on Shiro Of Japan. On 10/7/06, the atmosphere was less welcoming than that of a soup kitchen. Our waitress must've been an ex-marine because she barked at our tables patrons like a drill Sargent(but even drill Sargents are friendlier). Her goal seemed to be for us to choke down our food as quickly as possible to vacate our hibachi table for the next group. Speaking of the food, all hibachi which included Steak& Chicken, Steak& Shrimp, Sea Bass, and Filet Mignon were acceptable this time but not delectable. The chef had to be restrained from being heavyhanded with the butter on the Sea Bass, otherwise, he was OK.
Shiro claims to have the best sushi on Long Island. Be forewarned, the Salmon Sashimi looked so unappetizing that my mom was afraid to taste it. The waitress refused to take it back and called the manager, who was helpful and told my mom to try something else. However once burned, twice shy. If you want hibachi with good and accommodating service, try Gasho of Japan near Roosevelt Field or Benihana. For sushi, go to Negahama in Long Beach but stay away from Shiro.

When you walk on downtown Delray's Atlantic Ave, you may notice a small sweet shop known as Kilwins. From inside, you may sniff a whiff of fudge, caramel, candies, and a homey aroma of waffle cones being pressed. If you are here, you may want to buy some ice cream on a hot Delray Beach day. All of the ice creams are savory and homemade, but my favorite flavor is Banana Fudge Pie. This ice cream has a true taste of banana and is loaded with ribbons of rich, dark chocolaty fudge. FYI, for people with egg allergies, a vast majority of flavors are egg-free. Scoops of ice cream here are generous. Go easy when you order because 1 scoop here equals 2-3 elsewhere. Fudge here is handmade and their Chocolate Raspberry Fudge and other fudges are beyond compare. If you want an edible souvenir other than fudge to take home, the Chocolate Breakup is the way to go as are other treats. The nice people met outside and friendly employees are an additional treat in themselves. Bon appetite!

If you are looking for an excellent orthodontist in NYC or the metro area, look no further than Dr.Lemchen and Dr.Salzer. I found Dr.Lemchen when my parents were referred by my excellent dentist, Dr.Marc Benhuri. From my first appointment to all of my current appointments, I know that Dr. Lemchen is an excellent orthodontist. His technicians, who are young ladies of various ethnicities are friendly, gentle on your mouth, and excellent at their jobs. Dr. Lemchen is excellent at his job and warm. The office, which is situated uptown, is inviting and was recently renovated. Even though I come from Long Island to go here, it is worth the commute by car or by L.I.R.R. and the subway. To get to Dr. Lemchen's office, take the 4,5,or 6 trains to 59th St&Lexington, walk up 60th St to Park Ave and walk up the odd numbered side of the street to building # 553 which is at the southeast corner of 62nd St. Enjoy your visit here.

When I needed a car service to pick myself and my mom up at Ft.Lauderdale/Hollywood Int'l Airport, I called Mickey Pepper. I chose Mickey Pepper because for $83, my mom and I wanted to be met at the baggage claim, the agent who was one of the owners, Pepper, was extremely nice. My mom and I had to use a car service for our Aug. 2006 trip to Boca because my dad was flying to Miami International Airport and renting the car there. When we arrived in Ft.Lauderdale at around 12:30PM, we were met by our driver Rex with a sign. Speaking of Rex, he handled our baggage with care, he was an excellent driver, and also very friendly and informative of his Florida life. So after we got our bags, we headed over to the parking garage where we saw our ride. Our ride was a newer white Lincoln Towncar which was well maintained and immaculate. The only thing that turned my mom off was the price which came out to $92 with tip. The car service we used to go back to Ft.Lauderdale was more reasonably priced and just as good. If you need a limousine, give Mickey Pepper/De Ja-vu Limousines a call. This was a good car service overall despite the high price.

When I was in Boca Raton with my parents on vacation in August, 2006 my mom and I needed a ride back to the airport to go home since my dad was flying from Miami Int'l Airport instead of Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport due to flight availability . My mom and I were referred to this car service by my grandparents who use this car service to go to and from the airport. So I called City Car Service/City Taxi to pick myself and my mom up at my grandparents condo at 9:30AM for a 12:35PM flight to JFK from Ft.Lauderdale, the agent who I spoke to was kind and knew I was my grandfathers grandson. 10 minutes before our driver was scheduled to arrive, he arrived early so we could load our bags which was quite punctual of our driver. He showed up in a older but extremely well maintained towncar. To my surprise, my mom and I received my grandparents driver, Wes. Speaking of him, Wes was an extremely friendly gentleman and an excellent driver . Prices of this car service are also reasonable for what you get, I believe it was $55 plus tip.

Before using another car service, we used Norman's Limousine Service. The driver was punctual, the limo was fine, but one thing wasn't fine. While in the limo with my mom, the car ran out of gas, so we needed to call a cab to take us home. The driver should have checked the tank. Don't call Norman's Limousine for this reason.

When you need a safe, reliable, and dependable car service call All Island Transportation/Ollie's @ (516)486-6666 or (516)746-2500 to take you there. When you call, it is very easy to make a reservation with the nice agents. I have used Ollie's/All Island Transportation many times to go to the airports with my parents. They are definitely punctual as they arrive 5-15 minutes early so you can load your stuff. You will usually get a Ford Crown Victoria Cab or Lincoln Towncar which are well-maintained and clean. Drivers are friendly, professional, and are excellent drivers. Enough said.
