On February 09th our washing machine pretty much lost its spin cycle. I could get it to spin but I had to Gerry rig it 3 or 4 times a wash. Even then I could only do ¼ the normal loads. On February 14th our dryer stopped putting out large volumes of heat. This started to make even the ¼ sized loads take 3-4 times longer to dry. In short I was in need of a new washer and dryer.
I spent a few days looking online at consumer reports and finally settled on a brand. I notice Home Depot carried the brand I wanted. So I stopped in on the 15th of February to see the models. After looking at them all I decided to order LG models. This is where it went south. Way south.
During the purchase I was given choices for delivery on Sat, Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday.
I chose Sunday February 18th. I was given 10% off my order and a 55 dollar rebate on delivery and install. I was then charged 390$ for power cords, vent piping, water hoses, install brackets etc. This was about 15 dollars short of my 10% discount and 55 dollar rebate together.
My wife had not seen the models so we stopped by home depot the evening of February 15th (the same day I bought the set). While talking with the sales rep, he informed us that home depot could not accommodate the Sunday 18th delivery. We discussed this as we would be out of a washer and dryer for a full week then. He politely assured us that Tuesday February 20th was the first day he could get the washer and dryer to us. Content but a little perturb we left. 10 days without a washer and dryer would be a pain.
Sunday February 18th rolls around and I get a phone call from our home depot salesman and he says unfortunately our Tuesday 20th delivery time was not available. He is able to get it on the Wednesday February 21st delivery thought. So now it is 12 days without a functioning washer and dryer for a family of 4.
Monday February 19th comes around and I get a phone call from Home depots manager. They need a separate check from the one I wrote for to cover the costs of the power cords, vent piping, water hoses, install brackets etc. Somehow this was not included in my original bill, I debated this as they were clearly listed in my receipt. On and on we went. I acquiesced and came in and wrote a check for an additional 400. Bringing my total of 3457 for the washer, dryer, stands and install to 3857 for piping bits.
I am starting to get very upset at this process. Not only did I loose my full discount they are charging me twice for it. But at this time I have 30 loads of laundry sitting in my hallway and I need to get it done. I can not take it to a laundry matt because I have two very small kids during the day.
On Tuesday February 20th I removed the old washer and dryer, which and only been able to complete one load of laundry a day for the last 11 days. I spent the day draining the washer, un hooking the dryer, and cleaning the laundry room for the new arrivals the next morning.
Wednesday February 21st comes around. I am waiting patiently for my delivery. I receive a phone call at 10:30 from my salesman. He wants to know how my Tuesday delivery went. Tuesday delivery? I replied you switched it to Wednesday this last Sunday. He apologizes for the confusion and says he will look into it. 15 min later I get a phone call with him saying the washer and dryer are not even at the regional distribution center. The earliest day they can get that to me is Thursday February 22nd. I replied that is simply unacceptable. He hangs up to look into what he can do.
I call the manager, the manager replies that they have switched delivery companies and it is not all sorted out. And yes they can get the washer and dryer to their warehouse on Thursday February 22nd. However the first day of service for the new delivery crew is Saturday February 24th, and he would do his best to "squeeze me in" . At this point I am livid. This means I am now 15 days without a washer and dryer if I go by the home depot schedule. I hang up.
I spent a few min on the phone with the wife discussing options. I received a call back from the manager he told me the weekend deliveries and Monday are full. Tuesday February 27th is his earliest delivery day. I ask if I can pick the washer and dryer up at the store or warehouse. He replied that is not a possibility as they do not carry the washers in inventory at the store and the warehouse does not have them in stock and will not receive them till the following Tuesday. I replied wait, you just told me you could deliver it to me on Tuesday the 26th and now you are saying your warehouse is receiving them Tuesday the 26th. He replied yes the ware house is getting them Tuesday the 26th. If we can get them of the truck in time we can deliver them on Tuesday. At this point I replied get me the washer and dryer installed by 5pm today (Wednesday February 21st ) or cancel the order.
Here is where it gets even worse.
He replies they cannot get it to me by 5pm. So we agree to cancel it. I ask what is necessary and he says since the checks have not gone through just cancel the checks, and he will deal with it on his end. I call my bank and cancel the two checks 3457 and 400. I spent the next 4 hours calling appliance stores finding one that had the model in stock in the greater Seattle area. I found the two in stock, in Redmond at Fredrick's appliance. A quick talk with Casey on the phone and he assured me he could have them delivered that day Wednesday February 21st. His price was 100 less than what home depot was charging me. 4:30 rolls around and I receive a call from the delivery guys, they are on their way. By 6 pm I had my washer and dryer.
Two weeks go by in laundry bliss. I love the new washer and dryer. On march 3rd I received a letter in the mail from the Issaquah home depot general manager.
"Dear Aaron,
My name is neil goehri and I am the general store manager of the Issaquah HD.

Issaquah Home Depot # 4704.
P.S. I am having a 100 dollar gift card sent out to you also. It should arrive in appx. 1 week."
Now one might thing this is a nice thing. And it is to a degree. Except for the other two letters I received that day.
"Dear Aaron,
This is to notify you that check #### in the amount of 3457 and check #### in the amount of 400 was returned due to stop payment and has been referred to Certegy payment recovery services for collection...."
Yep, they are trying collecting on a product they never received and could not deliver.
I have called Niel 5 times, once a day this week. He has neither answered my calls nor returned them. I have been fair, now I am dealing with this in the same manner they have treated me.

So I am back,
Along with two other guys I helped plan a 12 person dinner at Krua. It was wonderful. A little tight inside but again that is part of the charm. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I tried their autumn curry. Yum. It will be one of my all time favorites. I know others enjoyed their farmer’s noodles, massaman curry, garlic trout. Take an evening and go have dinner at Krua.

A week or two ago I helped out TWC at hot import nights. (local car show). I was asked to help out TWC with 6 cars they had trucked up from CA. Originally they were going to be dropped off at my house for me to prep last week. The Hauler decided he needed a 3 day layover in Portland, where he parked his trailer under pitchy Doug fir trees.
When they arrived in Seattle they were laden with pounds of dust. I had to wash, wipe down, and do minor clean up at the venue on 6 cars.
3 M3's, 1 b5S4, 1 MkIV GTI, 1 ist Gen IS 300.
Now your asking yourself what does this have to do with Maneki? Well as a gesture of thanks they arranged to take me and my family out to dinner. So we made arrangements and met up at maneki for our reservation. In total there were 6 of us. We were seated promptly after all of us arrived.
I have to say they were very accommodating for my two young kids. My daughter 3.5, and my son 2.5. As we sat down they brought a bit of tofu in miso for the kids. (very nice) My kids are tofu hounds. In miso it is one of their favorite dishes. I am having a hard time remembering everything we ordered.
Yamakakke, monk fish liver, Aji, hamachi kamma, kappa maki, tekka maki, taukan maki, tori karagge, Please forgive me on the spelling. Add in a few more dishes here and there. All in all it was a wonderful meal . The dishes were served promptly without haste at the proper time. It was orderly, quick and polite. It’s hard to stress the difference quality serving can make in a dinner of this sort.
How would I rate it against the other Seattle Japanese restaurants I have been to? I would definitely consider it for top slot. Our dinner was fantastic, it was fresh, wonderfully prepared, with all of the accompanying side morsels I crave in a good Japanese meal. Take the time, make a reservation, park on the hill and visit maneki for a few hours with friends and family.

Well for a while i have been buying whole beans and grinding them myself to put in my french press coffee maker. Having tried the various flavors, roasts of store bought beans i simply became bored with trying to smell a dozen mix matched flavors when i go to the store.
So I tried Camano Island Coffee roaster. http://www.camanoislandcoffee.com/index.html
True to their word my order was roasted, sent, with in 24 hours. The coffee arrived yesterday. So far i have tried their 1/2lb September blend. I have to say, it is smooth. I am really happy. I chose the thermos for my free gift, and so far it is performing admirably.
I filled this out once and it sent it to JB camano Island. where it would die in obscurity. I'm posting it in bellevue as it happens to be a mostly internet buisness.

Barrier audi.
So this morning as I was driving my wife into work my rear left tail light went out. On the way back I stopped at barrier to set up an appointment. Usually they ask for an appointment for this kind of junk. I was pleasantly supprised when they told me that they were sending a guy up to fix the light right there. I gathered up the kids and headed into the customer waiting room, while grabbing a cup of coffee on the way.
The kids sat down at the little kids table which had pads of paper and markers. What a joy to behold. Markers! Well you can’t knock barrier for at least trying. My kids colored intently for all of 7-10 min. I had barely gotten ½ way into my cup of coffee when, bingo my light bulb replacement was done.
WOW! This is a far cry better service than I had received my first two visits in. Even a bit better than the nearly impersonal service I received 2 weeks ago for my 25k service. I know barrier is trying hard to take back control of customer service. This review is to let them know that it is noticed, and it is appreciated.

So last night I decided to give it a try. Based on the reviews here it looked a lot like a place I am used to from Portland.
We arrived around 5:45 ish and were pleasantly surprised to see a happy hour menu. From there we ordered edemame, vegetable yakisoba and a California roll. All three are pretty much staples of my kids favorite foods.
My wife ordered the sashimi platter and Aji nigiri. I tried the black cod fish dinner with tempura along with ordering yamakake, kappa maki, and Oshinko maki. First I believe my wife enjoyed the sashimi dinner. Many of the little touches we expected from our favorite place in Portland were here. It was wonderful looking and good cuts as my wife said. My children loved both the oshinko roll and Kappa roll, devouring them. My order of yamakake was also very good. Yamakake is something that not everyone cares for, but a personal favorite. My black codfish dinner was also very good. I enjoyed it immensely. The tempura with the dinner was also very nice.
It was a very pleasant surprise, very wonderful meal, attentive but not intrusive service.
I think we will happily try it again.

So this story starts out with us moving from Snoqualmie. In Snoqualmie there is, dominoes, and Sahara pizza. It was kind of a no brainer for us. Well we moved to Bellevue a few months back. And while Sahara is good. It’s not great. A few months go buy here at the new house using the local sahara place. Happily enjoying standardized pizza fair. Then one day I wanted to eat lunch a bit early, What do you know. Sahara does not open till 3. The kids and I were hankerin for a decent pizza. I immediately thought of Jet City pizza. I had seen their trucks all over town. I did a quick google search and found their site and menu.
I am a simple pizza guy. I don’t really care for funky bbq, Mexican, green pesto with sundried tomatoes. I like simple traditional Americanized pizza. Call me a ditz, I can live with that. So I am looking down their menu and I see a lot of my kinds of pizza along with the funky types. I figured what the heck I’ll splurge and try the “beer batter dough”. I ordered a kingsize “Jumbo Jet” along with some pepsi, and cheesy bread. The pizza arrived so hot I had to hold the edges of the box, It was a wonderful smell. The driver explains that he forgot the pepsi but will be back in a moment with it. I kind of did a mental eye roll and figured I would not see him again. As that has been my experience with forgotten delivery items. Sure enough 5 min later before I had my 2 kids dished up he was back with my cold pepsi. WOW.
The food.
The pespi was great, none of that coke stuff for me. Oh wait you want to know about the pizza. My 3 year old daughter proudly proclaimed it her favorite, along with the cheese, apple sause, santa glass and water. Yes everything is her favorite. Now to a more discerning palette. My son of 2 years scarffed it, nearly inhaled his whole serving. Okay so the little boy and girl that eat anything liking the pizza does not a review make. What did I think? I liked it. It was pretty darn good. It was not a “a++” but a good solid B+. So much so that since I ordered the first we have tried 4 other of their pizza’s. Gasp even the funky kind. All of them have been consistently B+. I am quite pleased with the pizza. So even is my 7 year old English springer spaniel. He never ever gets into people food. So I thought nothing of leaving the pizza box on the counter while I picked up the wife from work ala the bus stop 2 miles away. A quick 10 min trip and we get home to find the lingering odor of wonderful pizza and a king sized empty box. My dog happily waiting to go out side to relieve himself then return to his lil doggy couch and sleep soundly.
So the pepsi and Pizza were very good. What about that garlic bread? Well. Meh pass. It was a disappointment. My kids did not care for it either. Even Thorin my dog says pass.

The first two times 4 years ago i was not impressed. We had just moved up from Portland and were searching for a replacement to our favorite place in Beaverton. Both of these times the food was good, but it was not what I was used to. Both times we went for dinner right at 7. Service was sluggish and strained. Combine that with limited parking, as there are 3-5 places that all use the same lot. We decided to try other places.
Fast forward 4 years, and I find myself living in factoria. My wife said let’s try it again. So the 4 of us, My wife and I, my 3 year old daughter, and 2 year old son go in at 7:30. We are seated within two min. Our ordering was prompt. Food was good, much better than I had found locally since my first two visits. It’s highly Americanized in parts of the menu. However I was able to order some of my more traditional favorites. Both of them were very good. My only concern is the cost of the dinner meals. I thought it was quite high.
The next week while the grandparents had our kids we met there for lunch. The luch menu was good, portions were also ample. We enjoyed ourselves greatly, the sushi was good. Not top notch but good. It was consistent with our previous exp. Better than 80% of the other places, but not like my favorite Beaverton shop. Sigh… I’m still working on the owner. I think I almost have him convince to move up here. The lunch meal cost was IMHO far better than the dinner prices.
Will I continue to go there. Yeah I will for lunch when I have the time. We arrived just after they opened, and it was packed 5 min after we were seated. So be early.

Yes you can use fandango for other places, but combine the atmosphere, refreshment choices and general overall cleanliness of the place and you will fall in love. That not just to mention the seats, the number of screens, the location ect ect.
The one down fall is the parking. It can be confusing the first couple of times. I now park in the belle-square lot next to Nordstrom’s and walk across the sky bridge.
