Kinder's Meat Deli & BBQ
I love good Barbeque, the one thing I miss about living in Northern California is the wonderful BBQ places, particularly around Oakland. When I saw a new BBQ Place in Reno, Kinder's right off of Plumb, I jumped for joy. My excitement was short lived however. I ordered their 'famous' ball-tip sandwich with potato salad and BBQ beans, the tab was $8 and change. The sandwich consisted of appx. 3-4 ounces of ball tip which was tender and moist, but the serving seemed skimpy, and it was obviously not cooked in BBQ sauce, but rather oven roasted and cut up. The french roll it was served on was large and fresh, but I didn't think the mayonnaise, lettuce and tomato were appropriate condiments for a BBQ beef sandwich. A small dollop of BBQ sauce topped off the sandwich, but fortunately there were bottles of sauce on the tables for BBQ freaks like me to drown the sandwich with. The sauce was pretty good actually, not the best I ever had, and a bit mild for my tastes, but quite acceptable. The very small portion of potato salad was 'ok', but I could not find salt or pepper anywhere, and the staff seemed so occupied watching a football game that I felt it would be intrusive to interrupt them and ask for some. The BBQ beans were very bland, and tasted like canned beans with a small amount of BBQ sauce added. My husband ordered the 'sausage' sandwich which he said was 'ok' (that's his response to most food) but when I asked him the following week if he wanted to go back to Kinder's, his response was "why?" Which pretty much sums it up
