Imagine all you can eat sushi for $11... now be realistic and think about what the quality would be like. While it's hard to dis a restaurant that can give you plate after plate of sushi for $11, I just don't think it's really that good.
The place is packed and the wait to get in (when they open at 11am) can be up to an hour. Once you're in, there is a large sushi bar towards the back of the joint with "sushi boats" trolling around it. You simply stake claim to a table and then go and grab as much fish as you can carry away from the boats. If there is something you want that is not on a boat, you can ask one of the chefs to make it for you. The quality though is sub par in terms of good sushi. Pieces that have been riding on the boats for some time (there is no way to tell) are a little warm and just don't have a fresh taste. Even the rolls that are made for you when you order seem a little old. Also, if you show up after there lunch rush it seems like the quality goes down even further as some fish must be left floating around the bar for a while.
Even at this price, I don't think I'll return.

Excellent selection of beer, their beer is great (I like the IPA) and they also host other small-brewery beers on a rotating basis. The food is good, but nothing to get too excited about--regular brew pub fare, read: slightly overpriced (but good) sandwiches/burgers, the fries are also good. They have the standard (4-7pm I think) happy hour on Mondays, and pints are $2 all day on Tuesdays ... this is when I try to make it.

If you like ice cream, you'll love Gunther's. Forever I've been stuck on Cold Stone Ice Cream, but it's expensive and it's not really all that fresh (sure they mix in the ingredients while you wait, but I don't think/feel that the actual ice cream is too fresh). So I was happy to find Gunther's.
This place has been here forever, there are pictures on the wall of what the place looked like in the 1950s (looks pretty much like it does today), and although the prices aren't cheap, they are reasonable for the quality of ice cream you get. The service is friendly and the servings are huge--there's really not much to dislike. I think they also have some food goods as well (sandwiches, etc), but I've never had them.

I moved to Sacramento a few months ago and heard about this pizza place nearby in Midtown, well I love pizza so I thought I'd check it out. It is phenomenal!! It's deep-dish/Chicago style (I've read reviews around the web that speak of Zelda's origins--apparently years ago Zelda was a pizza apprentice in a well known joint back in Chicago) and the crust is the most unique I've ever had; it's very similar to a pie crust, very thin but firm, and it is not affected by the toppings on the pizza (even the Veggie with all it's moisture cannot sog this pie!)
The locale fits perfectly--black ceiling, large booths with lots of wood, and a few very stern waitresses (too stern for some, but I actually enjoy it). The pizza is not cheap, but a medium supreme will feed three hungry people. Budweiser is the only beer on-tap, and it's only $7 per large pitcher... makes the pizza taste that much better. Also, it can be tough getting in on Friday/Saturday nights so order your pie before you leave home...it's actually best to do that anyways since even on slow nights it will take about 30 minutes for your pizza to make it to your table.

The Capitol Barber Shop is within walking distance of my apt, so I decided to try it out. First of all let me say that they did a fantastic job of cutting my hair (which isn't saying too much as my hair is fairly easy to cut--but still, I've had some bad haircuts in my day). The staff, 2 male barbers who are cousins and pretty much run the business are very friendly (Luis told me this story of how he got into cutting hair and made pleasant small talk etc). As for this being the place to bring kids, as mentioned in other reviews, that depends. I'd put this as being a more "man's man" kinda shop--lets just say they have an extensive collection of Playboys and High Times for you to read while you wait for an opening. I consider this to be a good thing though!! But some parents may not.
I would definitely go back here again, and would also recommend them to my male friends. $15 for a haircut.
