My wife and I ate at moxie last week before heading to the Rep. I had noticed it for several months and finally got around to giving it a try. I was not disappointed.
The bar at the front is open and feels friendly while the small back room restaurant is perfectly lit and arranged, making it feel cozy and intimate but not cramped.
Wine selection, while small is interesting and offers a chance to taste some new varieties from a wineries world wide.
The menu is also small but has range...from their signature mac and cheese to dungeness crab, shrimp cakes, and mussels to meatier fare.
My wife had the lamb burger with fries (to my surprise, since she eats like a bird). The fries were perfect and the lamb burger (she gave me tastes and took half of it home for next day's lunch) was perfectly done and creatively seasoned...and I don't usually like lamb.
I ordered a sea scallop and trumpet mushroom dish off the specials menu and it was delightful—served with a dollop of mashed potatoes...which I certainly would not have believed to be an accompaniment to scallops, but the flavors balanced quite nicely.
The wait staff was friendly and attentive and we felt well served from the time we walked in the door.
Entrée prices are what I would call high but not outrageous, averaging around $18 (a guesstimate).
I understand that moxie has a less pricey happy hour menu also.
I would give the overall experience 4+ stars and definitely worth a visit.

Here's more proof that real good barbecue is alive and well in Seattle.
Just had lunch there this afternoon; The Beef Brisket Whole Hog Lunch (which includes the main course, two sides and a drink for $7.95.
While that's not cheap eats, I felt like I got my money's worth. The brisket was perfectly cooked. Piled thick between the buns, succulent, tasty and trimmed of gristle and fat.
Their Seattle Succotash (corn, edamame, black beans, red pepper and red onion with a hint of cilantro) is crisp, fresh and a perfect counterpoint to the barbecue.
And their Veggie BBQ baked beans make another nice counterpoint to the meatier fare.
Seems to me like restaurant barbecue can be a hit or miss proposition. In the case of the Rowdy Cowgirl, I can't wait to go back and try more of their menu.

Just tried Slo Joe's on Mercer Island this weekend. I was underwhelmed.
Slo Joe's is a new barbecue restaurant chain from the Taco del Mar ownership.
I would have to say that everything they got right in their TDM stores they got wrong in Slo Joe's.
First of all the portions are small and lack any presentation value, served up in a rather sterile black Styrofoam box.
Second, there's nothing special or interesting about the food. It reminded me of what you get in a school cafeteria.
Third, the prices are much too high considering the plainness of the food.
I had the Pulled Pork sandwich. Dry, uninteresting--doesn't hold a candle to the Pecos Pit Pulled Pork sandwich.
My wife had the featured Chicken Cesar Salad. I tasted and have had fresher and better salads straight out of the bag from the grocery store.
Somebody fell asleep at the switch when the TDM folks decided to branch out.
I doubt very much if I will return to Slo Joe's.

If you like Dim Sum, or would like to try Dim Sum, I recommend lunch at The New Kowloon. You'll see the name on a big white building on Jackson St. just east of the I-5 freeway overpasses.
For starters, there's a huge parking garage in their building and it's FREE. This makes it very easy to blast over there for lunch, park, stuff your face and blast back to work for a good nap.
The dining room is nothing special, but the constant parade of carts past your table offer a vast selection of shrimp, pork, duck, beef, and vegetable dishes prepared in ways both familiar and exotic. Steamed, fried, boiled, baked, etc.
Average price per dish is around $2-3.50 and everything tastes freshly prepared and scrumptious. (Have not been there for dinner so I don't know if these prices hold true in the evening.)
Dim Sum is a Cantonese term, literally translated as dot heart or order heart, meaning order to one's heart's content. It consists of a wide spectrum of choices, from sweet to salty. It has combinations of meat, vegetables, seafood, and fruit. It is usually served in a small basket or on a small dish, depending on the type of dim sum.
Thank you, WikiPedia for that last paragraph.

Slightly hidden away in a quiet Capitol Hill neighborhood, The Kingfish Cafe is one of my top five Seattle restaurant favorites...for lunch AND dinner. There's just no way to fault the place, ambiance, food, staff, dessert, neighborhood...everything comes together for a perfect experience.
The menu features more delights than I can mention here...Buttermilk Fried Chicken, Catfish Cakes, whoops...I said I couldn't mention them all. But suffice it to say that I have never eaten there without everyone at my table sharing bites and oohing and ahing over the experience. Their desserts will become legendary in Seattle some day, and rightly so. Shared a slice of their peach cake last night with our party of five and we couldn't finish it between us...though not for lack of trying.
Oh, and the prices...entrées range in the mid to high teens for dinner—a little high for "cafe" prices but not overboard by any means.

We've been using Rossoe Energy Services for the 18 years we've lived in our house. Called them originally because my parents had used them since the 1950s and they were one of the few companies I didn't hear my dad complaining about.
They have been quite helpful when we have needed to replace our heating system and we have used them on a contract basis for all the maintenance needs for both our furnace and our air cleaner (thus keeping the dust and fuzz to a manageable level).
They always show up on time and their service technicians seem friendly and knowledgeable. And more than once they have come to our rescue when called—solving whatever the problem was on the spot.
Since they're the only heating company I've used I can't make any comparisons. But based on experience, I would rate Rossoe a solid choice for your home HVAC needs.

After five visits to Lincoln Square Cinemas I am thoroughly sold. Not only is the facility a cut above most of the local theaters, the total experience is better as well. They're obviously thinking about the customer, from the person who tears your tickets to the live greeter (?) who comes in just before the feature to make sure you let them know if there's any way they can help...from quieting a noisy group in the next row to providing sound enhancements.
The theater seating is very roomy. They feel like first class airline seats and are a step up from most of the other local movie houses, with swing up arms in case you want to cuddle with your movie date.
The popcorn isn't the best theater-popped I've had but certainly passable...if a bit dry. The refreshment counters are set up for fast service and the people behind the counters seem well trained and courteous.
Add the ample free parking in the Lincoln Square facility and this is a pretty thorough combination of pluses...and my vote for best theater in the Seattle/Bellevue environs.

It's my pick for the best quick lunch taqueria in Seattle. Atmosphere is similar to what you might find in many Mexican seaside resort towns. Not fancy, but not a dive either.
Their selection of ingredients--for tacos, burritos, salads, what have you--are much broader than you'll find at the chains, including shrimp and fresh fish. Lots of freshly chopped vegetable and herbs too.
And they spot grill many of the meats too--instead of dishing the ingredients out of steaming tubs of goo.
Staff is friendly. You can sample their medley of hot sauces while they prepare your food.
If I had to walk past three Taco del Mars to get to Blue Water, I would do it.
And I actually love the food at Taco del Mar.

I've been taking my car to Greg's on Stewart St., next to the Freeway for more than 4 years. I started using them when I was driving an Isuzu Trooper. They seemed to be honest and fair enough in their pricing. Over time I got to know the people there and to rely on them for assessments of my car's condition...what I could put off and what needed to be done now.
When it came time to sell the Trooper I brought them a used Toyota Land Cruiser I was eying. With their clean bill of health, I purchased it and have been very pleased with the car.
Then...
I thought maybe I would try out the Toyota dealer for service. No actual repairs have been necessary in the two years I've had the Toyota.
While I found the service department to be efficient and helpful, I always felt like I'd been slimed by the time I paid my bill.
So recently I switched back to Greg's. Though there have been some personnel changes, the staff is still just as helpful and (seemingly) trustworthy.
(Don't know why I felt compelled to couch that with parentheses. But who can ever completely trust car repair guys?)
Anyway...Greg's on Stewart. There are other Greg's locations, but this is my favorite.
Addendum: Just had a major service (100K) and the front brakes redone, rotors and all. While it wasn't cheap, Ken (at Greg's) bent over backwards to help explain in detail what needed to be done beforehand as well as suggesting I go to their web site and print out a discount coupon before picking up my car.
Still tops in my book.

When the Mojito Cafe opened only a block away from our business, I was thinking it might be the perfect place to catch an occasional lunch or after work drink. That was about three years ago and after the first 5 or 6 visits it became apparent that there just wasn't much to write home about.
Most of the lunches I've had there have been rather bland and dry...meaning, in need of a sauce or some wet veggies to help balance the dryness of plantains and dry-grilled meats.
The Mojitos (a traditional Cuban cocktail) are pretty tasty, but drinking minty sugar water and rum gets old after awhile and after that...it's just another bar.
In fairness, maybe it has improved since my last visit.
