I haven't been to Royal Orchid in months but I've always had great culinary memories in this place. A few years ago my boyfriend called the place a few minutes before they closed to wait for us before they close the kitchen. When we arrived at Royal Orchid we were 15 minutes late and the place has been officially closed for about 20 mins but the staff gladly took us in. We didn't get any attitude and they treated us very well. We had such a great time and the service was impeccable. Food is amazing too. If you're not up to any of the rice dishes your best bet would be their appetizers. They have the best appetizer selection anywhere in this city. The next time I went in I had sore throat so I can't eat any of my food. My server made a great effort to ensure I liked my food and even offered to give me a new entrée for free. I told him everything was perfect and I was just too sick to eat. This is truly one of the best restaurants around!

The first time I visited Jet City the owner was super-friendly and even gave me 2 stars on her "buy 10 coffee drinks get one free" card. She told me she's had her joint for 15 years and I told her I can't believe I've never checked out her place before (I've lived in renton for almost 5 years). the place is very quirky and she even won a distinction for instituting great recycling efforts in her business. the coffee comes in 4 sizes and the biggest is about 24 ounces. 24 ounces is a bit too much for coffee but not in this joint, they even have great soy milk (choice of regular and vanilla-flavored)! i never drink regular milk so getting great-tasting soy milk is always a surprise for me. they sell vegan cookies and other pastries and have tons of flavors. love this place, brick your Starbucks and support your indie coffee-seller!

I eat a lot of pizza and I honestly believe Amante's has one of the best pizzas around. I always order the Amore Pizza (olive oil and garlic base, kalamata olives and artichoke hearts) and I am never, ever disappointed. I've tried their Carbonara once and it was exquisite. Their delivery service is always extremely fast. One time I ordered a pizza and after my pizza arrived I had to order another one because I suddenly had 3 visitors who have nothing to eat at my house, I called Amante's and 30 mins later I have a brand new pizza. The delivery guy was the same guy who delivered my 1st pizza and he graciously refused any more gratuity from me because he said I already gave him a nice tip the first time around (can you believe this story?). anyway, their pizzas are great so don't be scared to try 'em out!

this is a nice little gem of a coffeehouse. i used to go here all the time when i worked mornings and stayed til early evenings at work for my daily caffeine jolt. the staff is mostly female and they're all very well-mannered people. i love the interiors and this is quite possibly the best place to curl up to a good book and drink coffee.

as a 21-year-old female it's a bit intimidating to walk into a pub/bar and genuinely have a great time. luckily, i discovered the Whistle Stop Alehouse. i always sit in the 21 and over section and i am always served by Darren, the weekend bartender. i love the food although the menu is pretty limited. the owner is always around smiling at everybody. Darren is an amazing server and i always look forward to their breakfast menu on the weekends. it seems like the kind of place where you can be left alone and at the same time feel perfectly at home.

i don't know if there's any other Indian restaurants in renton but Pabla sure is one of the best food establishments in this town. the staff is very nice and they always make sure my water glass is full (very important because i'm addicted to water). the food is always great, their lunch buffet is very inexpensive and always a good deal. indian food is my comfort food and i have never been disappointed in Pabla. i've been coming here for over a year now and i will keep coming back.

my former masseuse moved to florida and a few months ago i was in dire need of a massage. i've lived in renton for almpst 5 years now so i decided maybe i should try CD Danza Salon and Spa. i called on a friday night for an appointment the next day and the front desk agent was able to squeeze me a really great spot (the first of the day). so i went in the spa half an hour before my appointment. the place was unbelievable. the decor was very tasteful and antiseptic.
when i walked in, the front desk agent gave me some paperwork to sign and immediately offered me a drink. i ordered some water and after i returned my glass she asked if i wanted a refill (she even asked whether i wanted ice with my water or not, nice touch.) they had a huge selection of magazines and their couches were very comfortable so while i was waiting for Mac, the masseuse, i was just relaxing inside the salon.
before the massage i received a warm footbath. it doesn't take long though, it lasted for about 5 minutes but i thought it was a great way to start a massage.
the massage room: breathtaking. i've never been inside a classy spa before so i didn't know what to expect but the room just exceeded everything i would have thought about. the lights are dimmed and meditation music was playing. i was instructed to lay down in the massage bed and i was surpised to see that it had heating blankets. during my entire massage i was warm which is pretty much a good thing because it was a full body massage and my hands and feet are always cold.
MAC: she was an amazing therapist. she asked me where my problem areas were and i told her my back but during the massage she quickly detected the tension on my shoulders and asked me whether she should concentrate on the knots on my shoulders and of course i said yes. she made small talk in the beginning but quickly stopped as she commenced the massage.
conclusion: the massage was $70 for one hour, which is a standard rate in most day spas. they also offer deep tissue, reflexology, maternity and hot stone massages. i loved my session so much i can't wait to try out the aromatherapy massage next month.
cons: the spa doesn't offer multiple massage packages which would have been a good thing because it saves money.
