Great casually elegant Pacific Heights restaurant without the "attitude". We're hooked on the Artichoke Bottoms w/Shrimp & the "very tender" Calamari Steak sautéed in Lemon Butter...Yum Yum!

eat anything. The food is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! They've been in business for well over 40 years, so I'm thinking it must be a front for some illegal operation of some kind. No one on the face of the earth could ever consider the cuisine ( I use this term loosely) palatable.

Mescolanza is a cozy Italian restaurant that has to be the best bargain in the Bay Area. A beautiful lite meal for two which I highly recommend is to start with the Polenta Al Funghi which is grilled polenta w/assorted seasonal mushrooms (my polenta phobic mom just loves it).Proceed on to the Insalata Di Cesare w/homemade croûtons and of course ask for extra anchovies! Finally share a fabulous thin crust Pizzetta Mescolanza which consists of mozzarella, Gorgonzola, prosciutto, artichoke hearts; to freaking' die for. This meal is on the light side so finish off with a cup of great coffee and the Almond Cake, you won't be disappointed.
If your in the mood for an entrée all your own, I highly recommend the Calamari Steak Meuniere or the Linguine Al Limone. And ready for this....Nothing on the menu is over $15.00! Be forewarned the parking is lousy but it's worth circling the blocks to dine at this gem.

Gaspare's is a old-school Italian restaurant simple good food and great Italian music on the jukeboxes at each booth, what more could you ask for. The pizzas are fantastic we especially like the Margherita with mushrooms added; with the olive oil running down your sleeve you'll think you're in Pizza Heaven. Also a good 1/2 & 1/2 and add some meatball for an extra treat,. The Veal Parmigiana is an ooey gooey cheesy heart attack on a plate, what a way to die! Warning if ordering an Entree don't choose the mixed vegetable they're horribly overcooked opt for the 'ghetti instead. For a real pick-me-up order the Zabagione it's a runny mess but with so much hooch in it you don't really care. Gaspare's worth circling the block over and over for.

Good food, reasonable prices & friendly service are just a few of the reasons to frequent this restaurant near Golden Gate Park. Some of our favorites are the appetizer Focaccia, Organic Spinach Salad w/apples, feta, walnuts & currants, Spaghetti & Meatballs, Vegetable Lasagna and absolutely any dessert on the menu. They also have an unusual beer selection and decent (cheap) house red wine too. My ShihTzu/Poodle George just loves all the goodies and attention he gets while dining of the front patio (his absolute favorite SF restaurant).

Nicks is by far the most popular local & tourist hangout in town; and for a very good reason.
The Pulses:
•Nick Gust (quite the charmer)
•Incredible Ocean Views (waves have been known to crash against the windows)
•Great “Old School” Waitresses
•Wide Selection of Good Food
•Excellent complimentary Garlic Bread
•Live Bands on the Weekend, with a packed Dance Floor
•Friendly Bartenders who know how to pour a drink
•Nice Banquet rooms that always overflow into the bar/dance floor
The Minuses:
•Dining Room always packed
•The Senior Host should really brush-up on his people skills; it’s really not that hard to be somewhat pleasant is it?
•Crab Sandwich contains a small amount of nice sweet crab but the Sourdough Bread overwhelms the sandwich.
•Seems to be a surcharge for the view since the prices are very high for the good, but not “great” food.
A visit to Nick's is a "must' when visiting Pacifica, especially for the weekend entertainment.

The Vallemar Station has been a mainstay in Pacifica for many years and for good reason. The dining room is casual yet comfortable with a large screen TV (no sound) tuned usually to local sport teams that is visible from all tables. The wait staff is friendly and accommodating when special requests are made. All dinner entrees are served with a lovely house salad with all the fixings and a choice of dressing. The entrees are served with choice of potato and either creamed spinach or mixed vegetables. They are enormous and delicious to boot. Some favorites are the Teriyaki Skirt Steak w/Grilled Pineapple and egg battered Calamari Dore`. The only problem I’ve experience lately was a VERY watered down Martini poured by what I hope was a “fill-in” bartender. Since his offerings most certainly would not keep this “Sports Bar” packed as it usually is each night. The Vallemar Station also serves lunch daily and weekend breakfast which is equally large and delicious, yet somewhat pricier than some may expect. Overall an enjoyable local “Sports Bar” that also serves a hearty good food.

What an exciting addition to the Pacifica restaurant scene this modern Italian restaurant is. It is situated on Pedro Point in a building that was previously Ristorante Mare, a popular restaurant in Pacifica for many years. Upon entering the restaurant, you are greeted by a very charming hostess who will guide you to your seat in the sophisticated dining room. The hardwood floors, butcher block tables with golden woven placemats along with gas fireplace, recessed and designer lighting lend a casual elegance to the interior. Fresh baked Focaccia and a delicious Puttanesca dipping sauce is served while looking over the short but varied menu. The Fritto Misto which consists of Calamari, shrimp, artichoke & lemon is delicious and fried to perfection, but I would have enjoyed a few more shrimp. The Caesar is served with white anchovies which I find a little too bland for my liking, but overall we enjoyed it very much. The Rustic Trout on one visit was a yummy whole Rainbow Trout served head-on with lemons discreetly hiding the beady eyes and stuffed with spinach. On another visit, the same dish was a Fresh-water Trout prepared similarly but not being a real salmon lover this type of trout was somewhat of a disappointment. The Veal Piccata although very small was sautéed perfectly and sat atop a very generous scoop of pasta, was quite enjoyable. An order of Flat-Iron Steak was thinly sliced and mounded around some very good mashed potatoes and lovely al dente sautéed spinach. Although this cut of meat can be somewhat chewy, it was ordered VERY rare and served exactly as ordered, a lovely dish. We order a “call” cocktail and received a generous pour which also came at a price, $10 per cocktail. The wine list we found to be expensive by Pacifica standards, with a “house” Cab going for $8/glass. Overall, I highly recommend Barolo which serves delicious food at a very reasonable price (sans alcohol).
