Not the best and certainly not the worst 10/25/2006

I visited Bangkok Balcony last night with an organization that was entirely picking up the tab (drinks, appetizers, entrée, and dessert), so price was of no concern. Despite this freedom to eat drink and be merry, I was pretty underwhelmed with the food here. The egg rolls and chicken kabobs were run of the mill; however, the sauces that accompanied them were pretty tasty, particularly the peanut sauce. My gin martini was decent but nothing to rave about. As for the main event, I thought my lemongrass noodles were a little greasy and not very flavorful. I ordered them with pork and veggies. Perhaps they would have been better with another meat. My husband did enjoy his duck curry, and I did think it tasted very good: just the right amount of spice and a little sweet with chunks of pineapple. For dessert, the Thai custard was placed around some sticky sweet rice that was very good. My husband loved the green tea ice cream. A friend got the mango sticky rice, and the mango was severely under ripe, actually really awful. I doubt I'll ever go back. There are much better Thai places in Pittsburgh that are a whole lot cheaper. more
