UrbanBody is definitely not trying to be the gym for everyone. Instead, they offer the basics of other gyms - weights, cardio machines, etc - but the difference is the staff. Here, when I walk in, the people behind the counter know me. They greet me by name, even before I scan my card. They ask where I have been if it has been a few days. In other words, it feels like a neighborhood bar... without the alcohol.
The classes upstairs are large enough to not make me feel like I am in a spotlight, but small enough that the class leader sees me and corrects my form, encourages me individually, etc. If you want a gym with personal attention and a staff that sees you as an individual, this is your gym.
(And I write this review fully understanding that not everyone wants this sort of interaction at a gym. Some people are more comfortable with the anonymity of a 24 Hour Fitness or Gold's. They prefer to come in, do their workout or attend their class, and head on out without talking to the staff. No problem. I get it. I just appreciate what this gym offers.)
