Bonnell's is another Fort Worth destination for gourmet Texas cuisine (a lot of meat and jalapenos). The chef has unique takes on classic dishes, and isn't afraid to experiment with different types of foods (I ate buffalo tenderloin there, among other things). It's expensive, but perfect for a special celebration. I like getting my Dad to take me there, because he pays.

I like Finn MacCool's because it's sort of off the beaten path. It's not in a high-traffic area, and it's never terribly crowded. I like it because unlike most "dark den" kind of bars, it has big windows and comfortable chairs to sit in while you people-watch outside. The bartenders there are very, very nice. Overall, it's a nice alternative to the standard downtown "watering holes."

Reata specializes in high-end Texas-style "cuisine." That means a lot of meat and jalapenos, I guess. But Reata is perfect for a special occasion, and the food is delicious. It's rather expensive for dinner, but the style and great service make it worthwhile. And for lunch, it's on par with a place like Chili's as far as price is concerned. And if I'm going to pay $8 for a burger, I'd much rather have a "gourmet" burger from Reata.

I think pedicures area a necessary luxury, like 300 thread count sheets. I continue to go to Charmin Nails because it's affordable, clean, and the staff is nice. They also do something interesting and (I think) unique: They give every customer their own file and buffer, and they store it in a box, so that only you (or your approved loved ones) use your utensils.

Swiss Pastry is a restaurant and a bakery. The bakery aspect is superb. The cakes, pies, and other miscellaneous treats are affordable (we're talking $6 for a whole pie) and delicious. I highly recommend their famous Black Forest Cake. The restaurant, however, can't seem to meet the demand of the large influx of customers during the day, because the service is severely lacking.

There just aren't very many quality cash-and-carry flower shops anymore. In fact, I'm not sure if there are any. The Flower Market on Montgomery has a wide array of flowers and accessories for something more special than half-wilted grocery store roses. You can make your own arrangements, or have them do the arranging for you. I think they also do event flowers, but you'd have to check on that. The owner and her employees are always immensely friendly and helpful.

I work near Old Neighborhood Grill, so I end up eating lunch there about once a week. Everything on the menu that I've tried is delicious. The people who work there are very nice and the service is pretty good, but we all know that the reason to go to a restaurant is the food. Burgers, salads, and all kinds of goodies are menu staples.

I have had plenty of experience with car repairs. My car is a piece of junk. A lemon, you could say. I have taken it to Ewell several times on the advice of my boss. Even though I think I will be broke for the foreseeable future due to car maintenance and repairs, the staff and mechanics at Ewell are friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend taking your car there.

The main concern everybody has about auto repair shops is getting a fair deal. I have no reason to think that J & N would rip anybody off on purpose, but my experience with it is that it's rather expensive. The employees and mechanics are extremely nice in a "down home" sort of way (This is Fort Worth, after all), but I guess my advice would be to prepare to wave bye-bye to your savings if you take your car to J & N.
