My friends and I ritualistically take each other to Lawry's for our prospective birthdays. They don't take reservations, but the bar area is beautiful and they have complimentary freshly cut potato chips and meatballs (yum), but don't fill up because dinner is always the same - perfect. Love that horseradish cream sauce for the meat, occasionally I will get a lobster tail, too. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Tell them when you are seated that it's your birthday and they may bring you a free dessert, too.

This is this is the best burger I have ever eaten. The roll and fries are also excellent. I ordered on line for the whole office yesterday and everyone loved it. We had one vegetarian in the group and she ordered the Chop salad that looked very good, too.

I like to be able to go to a neighborhood place for an early glass of wine or a late lunch and feel comfortable enough to go alone. That's Barefoot. The staff is great, very unassuming and fun. I meet my friends there for Happy Hour on Wednesdays and we order garlic chicken pizza, carpaccio, chicken dumplings or crab cakes. The Happy Hour menu is great. I always meet interesting people at the bar. They also have a patio which is nice at night during the summer.

I like mustard, sauerkraut and those sweet red onions on my hot dog, just like you get in Manhattan. I think you are either a hot dog person or you aren't and I am a huge fan. Sometimes the line is so long it wraps all the way around the building and into the parking lot. It is always worth the wait, but if you get there on the early side around 11am you only have to wait about 15 minutes. My mouth waters every time I drive by thinking about that first good bite. I have never tried anything but the hot dogs. Why would you? If you don't want to wait in line - Boar's Head hot dogs (good snap) and sauerkraut are available at Ralph's on Doheny and Beverly.

I met a friend at Enoteca Drago a couple of Wednesdays ago and there was a wine tasting at the bar with appetizers for $25. I loved the thin crust pizza. And then I went back last Friday night, sat outside and had linguine with clams - delicious! The atmosphere is casual, but still Beverly Hills.
