After a not-so-satisfactory experience at Ravenna Volvo I ended up going back to the service department for an emergency repair. If a business fails to offer good service the first time around I typically do not return. However, the windows in our XC stopped working last week so I stopped by without an appointment to see if someone had any ideas--I had stopped by 2 weeks ago for the same problem and the service adviser 'advised" me that the earliest he could see me was 2 weeks away. Yesterday, after a luke warm welcome, these guys came through with excellent service--helping me troubleshoot the problem and, of course, charging me 208$ for a new part. But they did not charge for the troubleshooting or the installation. The guy I worked with was named Scott--he was excellent.
Something tells me hese guys have gotten used to the 'upscale' crown in Ravenna and they simply do not need to fight for customers--but yesterday they were great and we will go back--and consider them when we trade in our '99 XC.

For various other rentals--I rented a roto-hammer drill to make some holes in the concrete wall of my basement--Handy Andy's is a good place. Aurora rents on 175th in Shoreline is also a good place for general rentals. Both of these places were suggested to me by the folks at Dunn Lumber.
