Plaza Garcia is one of the better Mexican restaurants in Kirkland. Located on the top of Finn Hill, it's a place that usually customers and introduced to through people they know or by driving by! While not the number one in my book they do have delicious cuisine at affordable prices. The service is lacking but they are always friendly and accommodating! I love coming here with a small group of friends for margaritas and we normally spend an hour there enjoying their homemade salsa and bean dip before ordering our actual meals. If you are looking for a more low-key Mexican joint I would definitely go here!

Like most women who get their hair done, it can be a grueling and time consuming process trying to find the right hair stylist to do the job correctly according to different requirements and tastes. After probably four or five different stylists, I have found one that I will remain loyal to. Her name is Misti James and she is a fabulous stylist currently working out of The Perfect Touch salon. Misti loves what she does for a living and it shows! Since I started going to her three years ago, I have continued to go back and I always recommend her services to people who stop me to ask "I love your hair, where did you get it done?"! Even my mother, possibly the hardest-to-please customer out there (sorry mom, its true) has started going to Misti, and has given her repeated business! While most stylists don't experiment with your hair when asked too - Misti will! And the results are always outstanding! Also, she gives trims for free, stating her reasons as not wanting you to do it yourself and mess up!!!! She is also affordable and always ensures you that if you don't like the results she will fix it! If you are on the market for an excellent stylists, please take the time to go by The Perfect Touch and check Misti out!
P.S. As an example of how happy I am with her, I moved to Kirkland about six months ago and have traveled TWICE down to Olympia to have her do my hair - the results are so worth it!

I became a WSECU member in 2001 after moving here from Texas, and ever since have been a loyal and enthusiastic supporter of this institution! This is the only bank where they take the time to listen and work out new solutions to any concern or problem you might have. I have both my car loan and my student loans through this institution and at GREAT rates too (especially for someone who has not been establishing credit that long!). The annual newsletters with council updates and issues being voted on really makes you feel more involved with the running of the credit union! They are also very understanding when it comes to late loan payments and change of circumstances!
If you have an opportunity to become a member of this wonderful financial house - I highly recommend that you do so! They will ruin every other bank for you!

I have been going to Nordstrom's since I was a little girl, and it has been there that I have received the best customer service by any retail store! The customer service I received recently motivated me enough to contact the store's manager to tell her about this particular employee. I am one of those shoppers who can walk the aisles and finger a few pieces, however I very rarely will step out of my conservative box and try on new styles and pieces but I recently met this personal shopper there that went beyond the call of duty servicing my every whim. Her name is Sam Bisram and she is a wonderful young lady. Not only did she bring me different clothes, she brought me coffee and water in the dressing room, took a piece to their alterations department, took my shoes downstairs to the shop department to exchange them for a new pair, not to mention bringing me over 50 separate pieces to my overflowing dressing room! Truly the best customer service ever - if you ever feel like trying on new styles and being pampered for the day - drop by the t.b.d. department at the Bellevue Nordstrom's and ask for Sam Bisram - I promise you will fall in love!

Magic Mouse Toys is an eclectic and wonderful little toy shop located on the corner of Yesler and 1st Ave in Seattle. This three level shop is packed full of unique and classic toys alike. Both parent and child can spend hours perusing the aisles and playing with their variety! Adults will find amusement in some of their political propaganda that they have out by the register, which, while it may offend some, is something that you wouldn't find in a larger, more corporate toy store! They have nearly anything that you could imagine and their staff is friendly and knowledgeable! My favorite find there was a card feature illustrations from "Where the Wild Things Are" a classic children's book :)

The Brown Bag Cafe in Kirkland is a wonderful place to go whether by yourself or with those that you love. They have plenty of seating and in the Summer they open their patio up for dining in the sun! My girlfriends and I go there at least once a week, normally after a 'long' night to grab a cup of coffee and gossip. The service is normally very good and the amount of food you get is borderline ridiculous! One of my favorite things about this restaurant too is their presentation of the menu - which very bluntly states on it their opinion of people who use their cell phone!!!! If you are ever in need of a hearty breakfast in a fun family atmosphere, The Brown Bag Cafe is where you belong!

Coming from someone who has worked in the restaurant business for five years now, for me to rave about Hector's so much means that it has really made an impression on me.
Hector's truly a wonderful experience at anytime of day! The relaxing and eclectic atmosphere begins once you enter the door and notice the wonderful decor. Sitting in the lounge in front of the small fireplace with a small group of friends, enjoying a cocktail and appetizers is the best Friday treat I can recommend for anyone. On Wednesday nights they usually have live music in "The Back Room" as well as a lovely outside patio that is intimate and perfect for romantic dinners.
The staff is friendly and attentive and always willing to try and make unusual requests work. If you ever are in the Kirkland area - I strongly recommend you drop by Hector's and try it out!
