I tried Clark's after Orkin didn't work out for me, and we ended up having rats in our attic again. This time the company doesn't do any changes to your house (Orkin had closed up a hole between the garage and the attic), and couldn't even refer us to someone who did do that. This service was just for setting up rat traps. We paid for the service man to come in 2 x in one week, then once a week for the rest of the month, to check and set up traps. It did work, but that was all we got out of it. We could have signed up for some extended service thing but we didn't and I got the feeling my serviceman didn't like that much. Now here we are about 6-9 mos later and we have the same problem. It is really frustrating to have tried two different companies and the problem keeps coming back.
Clark was helpful if you just want rats removed, but they may come back.

When we first heard rats in our attic we called Orkin because they are a well known company. We found out that you have to sign up for a 6 month plan where they check out your house each month for $80 a time. I didn't realize that this was automatic. So the guy came by twice, put in glue traps in the attic (which I think he never took out), and closed up a hole into the attic. I think that hole was what worked, because from then on we didn't have rats (for awhile) but he never did catch any. Then for the next 4-5 mos. he would just "stop by" whenever he felt like it for the official monthly checkup, and we would be charged $80. I guess he stopped by and looked outside the house because he never connected with me and I never let him in again. I wouldn't use them for anything large again (they might be okay for just spraying for insects) and probably not at all because of their 6 month system and lack of customer service.

I used to shop at this store until they moved and got much more difficult to get around in. You definitely can't get a stroller into the lanes, and often not even yourself! However, they do have three "odd ball baskets" and other discount yarn, buttons and patterns right near the door so you can get in and get out. They have a small set of toys and are friendly to kids, and an easily accessible bathroom. They also have a membership, where you can pay $20 and get 10% off for a year (some sales you get 15% off).

We've been going to Max's for years. Today we stopped by because we couldn't find anything else to do and it was pretty good. I like their "sliders" and their raisin bread is amazing! We also got a (huge) banana split which was okay. They used to use a higher quality ice cream, but now it's not so it wasn't all that good. I don't think I'd get an ice cream dessert there again, but their ultimate chocolate cake is great!

The last time I went into our local CPK I got seated with my kids. Someone got seated after me. She got waited on, and the only (apparently) waiter totally ignored me. I was in full view of the hostess too, and no one ever came over. After 10 min. I just walked out and never came back. This was 2 years ago, and I'm within walking distance. The chain lost a customer in me then.

We have been a member of the SF Zoo for about 4 years now. They have been improving in those years. They now have the lemur exhibit, the African Savannah, and the new bird exhibit. They have a cute little train and carousel. The Children's Zoo section is fun for kids, with an insect zoo, petting zoo, an indoor exhibit where you can touch animals, etc. They also have been improving their food. They have a new Asian themed restaurant to add to their pizza, pasta, sushi and Gordon Biersch garlic fries.

This is the nicest local IHOP, probably because it is new. The staff is helpful and accomodating. The food is standard IHOP but they do it well. My kids love the "Funny Face" which is a buttermilk or chocolate pancake with whipped cream and chocolate chips and cherries. I like the pancake combo where you can pick any pancake along with eggs and bacon. They also have the "bottomless coffee" which is nice.

Starbuck's is definitely in a bad cycle with their pastries. I get the feeling they have their old standards and some are season-related, but the current stock of pastries at Starbuck's are lame! When I used to go in the spring they had delicious vanilla and chocolate cupcakes and I heard they were getting orange in, but now no cupcakes, just more yucky coffee cakes (banana/chocolate? yuck!) and "healthy" looking options (which are probably really unhealthy) like the oat cookies and maple oat scones. I hope it changes or I won't be going back.
