Trophy Cupcakes are perfect. I know perfect is an extreme word but it's true. First, their cake as amazing. Moist but not greasy. The cake itself is probably the best cake I've ever had. Then comes the frosting. Just the perfect amount. Each bite is frosted but there isn't so much it overwhelms the cake. There are the usual flavors but also some nice creative additions. The shop itself is darling and the employees seem nice. I highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for a great cupcake and a nice atmosphere.

Dr. Karton is a truly great doctor. Excellent diagnostic skills and wonderful bedside manor. Unfortunately, there is a (several year long) wait to get into his practice.

The first time I made an appointment (I came with my mom and best friend) I made it clear I was just looking (at this point, my wedding was over 18 months away). Liz, the woman assigned to help me, was very nice and didn’t care that she wouldn’t be making a commission that day. She gave me honest advice and feedback. I tried on 8-10 dresses, which, when you are talking about wedding dresses, represents a lot of time. At no point did I feel any pressure to make a decision but I also didn’t feel ignored. A few months later, after finding a dress at another store I thought was ‘the one’ I decided to go back to La Belle Elaines and look at what they had, just to make sure I was making the right decision. When I made my appointment, I explained the situation and said that I didn’t even need someone helping me (I didn’t want to unnecessarily take up anyone’s time). When I came in (by myself), the woman who ended up ‘helping’ me (their policy understandably requires a sales person be assigned) was extremely rude and informed me I only had 30 minutes so I should probably find two dresses to try on and that was all there would be time for. I ended up finding two dresses that I may have like more than the one at the other store but I’ll never know since I wasn’t allowed to try them on. I’d already used up my 2 dress quota. When I asked her if I could make another appointment to try them on, she gave me a piece of paper and a pencil and told me write down the style numbers. I asked if I could make my next appointment for an hour instead of 30 minutes. She then said that all appointment are an hour. But wait – I thought I only had 30 minutes. She looked like a kid with their hand caught in the cookie jar. She then informed me she was then told she was very busy and that I could make an appointment with the receptionist. All and all, my second appointment overshadowed the kindness I’d been shown in the first.

After reading horror stories about bridal salons in general and Marcella’s in particular, I was hesitant to make an appointment. They are the only store in Seattle to carry several of the lines I was particularly interested in so I decided to give them a try. This was in February and I just now – in July – ordered my dress. I was probably one of their most indecisive brides and they were patient the entire time. In fact, Kim (the extremely nice woman who helped me during each of my 5 appointments) was adamant I not order a dress until I was sure it was ‘the one.’ I put a deposit down on a dress I thought I loved and Kim even gave me the trunk show discount even though the trunk show was over (but I’d tried it on for the first time at a trunk show). I ended up emailing her a few days after putting the money down and asked if she could hold off placing the order. There was one more dress I decided I had to see. They didn’t carry it in the store but Kim offered to have it FedEx’d (at their expense) so I could try it on (there was a trunk show in 3 weeks that would have the dress so I decided to wait until then). To make a short story long, once I tried on the dress, I was so glad I had waited & grateful I had not been pressured into making a decision. I don’t have my dress yet (it’ll be a few months) but so far my experience with them has been wonderful.
