THIS REVIEW IS OF THE BAR AT VON'S - NOT THE RESTAURANT.
Over the years I have been to Von's numerous times. It's very close to where I work and also I had a girlfriend who worked there so I would frequent there often to see her. But it had been a while since my last visit until recently.
First, as an avid martini lover, I have to say this is not a legitimate martini bar. I'm sorry, but Cosmopolitan's and Lemon Drops, and certainly grape koolaid drinks in martini glasses are not martinis!! Unfortunately, I think these are the drinkers who they are trying to appeal to instead of your top shelf stodgy business men who really know what a good martini is.
Our waitress was fine. Not great, but not bad either. I've heard that the service can be questionable and downright bad, and have experienced this myself before, but on this occasion it was fine and we were there from 6:30 to 10:30 and managed to hit BOTH happy hours.
Food: typical bar food, a lot of deep fried stuff. However the spring rolls and the dipping sauce were scrumptious and I hear that they have a good signature salad which I did not try on this evening.
But down to my real message to those of you looking for a good evening out = BEWARE OF VON'S. The martinis are not cheap, something like $7.25 each. But when the bill came, it read $7.25 +$1.50, $7.25 + $1.50, &7.25 + $1.50. Huh? So ask the waitress what the extra $1.50 charge was and she explains to me that at Von's they make all of their martinis doubles and the $1.50 for was for a double martini. So the problem I have here, is nowhere was this advertised nor was it ever mentioned by our server. Also, if those were doubles, there would be no way that I would have been able to walk out of there not to mention that the martini shaker was 1/2 the size of a real one!! THEY WERE IN NO WAY DOUBLES!! Unethical business practice if you ask me.
Overall I get the impression that Von's is trying to capture tourists and convention goers who are not very familiar with Seattle, or want something close by to the Convention center. They can rip them off, give them bad service, and don't have to worry about repeat business.....

If want to just drink beer, then try Uber Tavern - I think they probably have the biggest beer selection in all of Seattle. In my opinion, it's not really a tavern but the beer list is about 8 pages long and I think the first two are just Belgium beers. The unfortunate thing about Uber is there is no food. UBER IS A BEER LOVERS PARADISE.

You can look at all my posts to see that I am a huge fan of Second Ascent, for many many reasons. But I can tell you that the service is second to none and I have been all over town: Gregg's, TiCycles, Montlake. I manage a cycling team and have chosen Second Ascent to service all of our bikes. Ask for Aaron or Andrew - you can even tell them that Lisa Miller sent you.

It is extremely rare that I have such a terrible experience somewhere, much less feel the need to tell others about it. My experience yesterday at Bites & Bistro in Madison Park really lit my fire. So much so that this morning I was still smoldering. Yesterday I stopped in to get a quick sandwich to go. Having never been there before I asked the gentleman behind the counter (a raven haired man) what he recommended. His response was that "everyone marches to the beat of their own drum, I am not going to recommend a sandwich, how can I do that". I thought, okay he's trying to be funny, not very good at it, but I will go with it. So I then asked him what the top selling sandwiches were. He mentioned two and I responded, well they must be good, I'll have the first one you mentioned. His response: "Well, Britney Spears sells alot of records but that doesn't mean her music is good". Slightly irritated, I ordered my sandwich to go and stepped aside. I wait, and wait and wait. In the meantime, 2 other customers entered the deli and ordered sandwiches to go and left before me. Finally I muster up the nerve to ask the guy what the status was of my order was. His response "Mam - have you ever heard of the saying a watching pot never boils?" Another customer heard this and gave me a little nod as if saying "what a jerk". Then to top things off, the sandwich was bland and uneventful. I was wishing that I had swiped the salt from the counter to bring the dead thing alive. JUST BECAUSE IT IS MADISON PARK, YOU ARE IN A GREAT LOCATION AND HAVE NO OTHER COMPETITION ISN'T AN EXCUSE FOR TERRIBLE FOOD AND ABUSING YOUR CUSTOMERS THAT PAY YOUR SORRY RENT!

Dr. Trumble at the University of Washington is an excellent surgeon. Unfortunately, I now have 3 surgeries under my belt with Dr. Trumble. It is my understanding that he is a very reputable hand surgeon (all 3 of my surgeries), but I believe that he is renowned in other areas. Dr. Trumble is also open to other non-surgical techniques and alternative therapy - he is not simply surgery-happy.
Good luck!

Located just of I-405 and HWY 167 in Renton, this RV storage facility is a great location for Seattlelites and Eastsiders. We have stored our at a few places and this facility is awesome!! One thing that I really like is that it is totally secured and I have access literally around the clock. There is also a sewage dump on site which has added loads of convenience to our lives. The facility offers covered and uncovered storage and they have site manager who lives right on the premises. We have found the staff to friendly, easy to work with, and overall, an excellent place to keep our home away from home.

I am not one for puchased pies because homemade is always best. However, my family (and me too!) loves the pumpkin pie from Costco. It's huge, tasty, and really cheap (I think $6). The down side is that it is hard to pull it off as your own, you know, if you have an image to uphold.
Good luck.

Of all people, I am the strongest advocate for the little guy. Mom and pop shops in these days of "Walmart-ism" is a rarity so I support them as much as possible!! Then we have a plumbing problem - so the first thing I do is go to Judy's Book and do my research. I selected O'Neills. I called and made an appointment for the next day (Friday). At the time that they were schedule to arrive, they call me to tell me that they are too busy to respond to my needs. NOW, I am in desperate need, it's Friday afternoon and out of town guests are arriving on Saturday - because plumbing issues never happen at a convienent time. I ask if they can come later on Friday or on Saturday and they respond, "YES" of course, for a nominal rate of $250 per hour (emergency rate). WHAT!?!? Yea, well they proceed to tell me that I wasn't actually on the schedule for Friday at 2pm, but rather I was on a standby list should they have time to come by. Huh? News to me. So, ROTO ROOTER to the rescue. No emergency fee. They came on Saturday, fixed the problem, easy as pie!!
