When you call the Natural Lawn and Garden Hotline (206) 633-0224 (info@lawnandgardenhotline.org), you're guaranteed to get a person on the phone. Often Master Gardeners, they are very knowledgeable about possibly any garden topic, specially in the Northwest region. I've called them up about 50 times already; every time, they were patient, offered good advice and sent me learning materials - for free!

Though accommodating, I strongly suggest calling ahead to make an appointment. They are currently short staffed, as a result, instead of the usual M-R 9-8pm and S-S 9-5pm, they don't open until 10am on Monday and Tuesdays. I deducted one more star because they didn't leave a notice to communicate this to the patrons.
Fees are $17-$21 (kids under 3), $19-$23 (ages 3-7), $21-$25 (8-10). If you only need bangs cut, its only $5. They have wooden seats for the tots in forms of a plane, train, horse and bear.
They are located in the Wallingford Center (a converted schoolhouse) across the street from the Wallingford QFC on the intersection of 45th and Wallingford. There is a parking lot available.

Located in Lake Meridian off 132nd Avenue, Hunan #1 is a convenient take-out spot when coming home from the Park & Ride. They are in the Albertson's plaza.
This restaurant specializes in Mandarin & Szechuan cuisine. It is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. They have a casual, kid friendly dining area. Expect a suburban eatery located in a strip mall.
We often buy the house special appetizer ($11), which includes egg rolls, spare ribs, chicken wings, chicken finger, fried prawns, beef skewer and crab rangoon. This is plenty for a toddler to eat and extras for the parents. The Happy Family and Royal Bird's Nest are Chef's specialties. There are good vegetarian selections like szechuan eggplant or szechuan bean curd. But, the Mongolian Beef and Mandarin Chicken is a great standby.
The priced range from $5-$12. Credit cards are accepted.

Located in Four Corners (intersection of Maple Valley Highway/169 and Ken-Kangley Road/516), Shakey's Pizza is a quiet neighborhood pizza parlor reminiscent of yesteryear before the era of "gourmet pizzas". It seemed like there were 5 pizzas (and 2 crusts) to choose from. (Think beach town pizza parlor) The pizza was ok.
Their phone number is (425) 432-4166. They have sit-in, take-out or delivery. They take credit cards,

Uptown China is hidden in lower Queen Anne on Queen Anne Avenue between John and Thomas (about 1 1/2 blocks north of Denny). This is my favorite chinese restaurant. The food is consistently of high quality. I can venture out and try new dishes and know that it would be good.
The ambiance in the restaurant part is clean, quiet and nice to take a date. The bar area has a TV to see what's happening at the Key/Safeco Field/Qwest Field.
Prices are under $10. I was fortunate enough to live nearby at the time, so I often did take-out. There is parking available behind the restaurant and street parking is aplenty (except when Seattle Center has an event). They take credit cards.

He is very dependable and is willing to work with you on a project basis or on a routine maintenance plan. I have referred him to my neighbor. She was so happy with the service, she referred him to others as well!

Located in Overlake Hospital in Bellevue off 405 b/w 116th and NE 8th, this is the cheapest place that I found Glamour Mom Nursing Tanks. They sold at $24.99, elsewhere they retailed at $39.99. If you call ahead, they can even order the styles/colors you want. The people are very helpful, but the hours are somewhat limited. They have a separate entrance, so you can walk-in without having to go through the hospital.
Other items carried include cute take home outfits for the newborns, Mustela, Avent, Baby Bjorn, Slings and paraphernalia for the breastfeeding mom. ( http://www.overlakehospital.org/services/womensandchildrens/womenscenter/services/boutique.aspx ) The Women's Clinic 425-688-5389

If you are expecting, or know someone who is, I highly recommend visiting this store. Located in Madison Park (E. Madison and 27th), this store carries quality items for the mothers to be and the baby. They carry slings, belly balms, Under the Nile clothing and a wonderful selection on Nursing bras. The people are very helpful and they are a great resource for what's happening holistic in Seattle. ( http://www.birthandbeyond.com )
