The Adventure Aquarium ( http://www.adventureaquarium.com ) is located in the waterfront of Camden, NJ just across the river from Philadelphia. When you come, you will have fun as you view all sorts of sea creatures through all 5 senses.
One of my favorites was the weird fish exhibit (I'm sure there is a more formal name for it). There are flat screen TVs placed by the tanks showing you how this seemingly friendly fish can attacks its prey. The rock fish and piranhas are a couple in the collection. It's like watching a horror flick, you know what's going to happen, but just couldn't look away.
My other favorite was the Hippo tank. You have to visit Button and Genny, better yet, bring the family! They literally go face to face with the guests from their tank. Did you know they can kill lions by trampling them?
Finally, the aquarium also offers a tunnel that allows you to walk through the shark tanks. Upstairs, you can pet the smaller sharks and other creatures too many to name.
It was very exciting experience and I am definitely coming back when in the area! But be forewarned:
1) Timed admission: Make sure you arrive early or call ahead and purchase tickets for will call. Otherwise, you can wait in line for 45 minutes to buy tickets.
2) Admission is $18.75 adults and $13.50 for kids (as young as 3). But it is really well worth it.
3) Don't plan on staying late in Camden.

Annie's playground ( http://www.anniesplayground.org/playground.html ) is a wonderful playground for kids that love to climb. It is a newer playground, close to Nathan Hale High School, the Meadowbrook Community Center and Meadowbrook Pond. The parking lot is located off 30th.
This playground has the most climbing structures so far out of all the playgrounds I have visited. There are three main structures, varied by level of ability. A wee toddler structure, a middle sized structure with a mini climbing wall and a big toddler structure for the older kids.
Along with the cool lounge chair seat swings, tile art, teeter totter, this is one of the best, not so crowded playgrounds in town.
If you also have a little naturalist, we usually walk across 35th to Meadowbrook Pond to visit the beavers.
This is a link to Seattle Park and Rec's page ( http://www.seattle.gov/parks/parkspaces/meadowbrookplayfield.htm ).

Set alongside the Cedar River in Maple Valley, the Testy Chef Cafe are run by waitresses that have worked together for decades. The atmosphere is friendly, relaxed and casual. The little red building looks like it's been there for 50 years. In what looks like Grandma's converted porch, you can dine with a view of the river and native greenery. Although they do not have a kid's menu, they do have high chairs and tolerant of the kiddos.
The prices are between $5-$10. Although known for the garlic burger, we were told that the breakfast is most popular. When I went, I ordered the bacon cheese garlic burger, homemade potato salad and a root beer float.
If driving home from a hike at Mount Rainier on Maple Valley Highway/169, they are the red building to the right across the street from Maple Valley Market. Stop by and say,"Hi!". They open at 6am. If in a rush, they have food and espresso drive thru service.

Located in Lower Queen Anne / Uptown in the intersection of 4th Ave. West and Mercer, Queen Anne Vision Clinic provides a neighborhood - feel practice in an urban setting. Dr. Takeda and staff were very nice and professional. I had a good experience and went to them for years. They take most insurance, including VSP. Street parking is available.

If you want the European/International looking glasses, Collaizzo is the cream of the crop. They sell premium frames that will definitely get you noticed. If you want to break out of the mold, Camille will work with you to find the "look".
I find that people who do not wear a lot of jewelry tend to express their individuality and personal sense of style through their eyes or watches. Collaizzo has the selection that is in line with stores in San Francisco, London, Milan or Tokyo. The hidden gem in Camille's store is that she has a wide selection of plastic frames that will fit petite, asian face structures. Yay!!! Goodbye to wire frames, hello cuteness!
Located in Queen Anne by the Counterbalance, Collaizzo does not do the insurance claims for you. You have to do the legwork yourself.

I love the frames in this store. If you want run of the mill, go to Costco. However, if you are a daring type, then this is the place to be! They have great selection, fun frames and fun people to be around. Overall good impression from the staff. They are located on Fremont Avenue close to 45th Ave. I don't remember if they take vision insurance, you might have to do the claims yourself.

City Eye Care is an upscale eye place located on the counterbalance off Queen Anne Ave with a downscale follow-up service. The eye check-up was routine, nothing to write home about. However, I do not recommend going here to purchase contacts or glasses. I fully paid for my contacts and yet they sent it back? I lost time and money for the hassle.

Conveniently located in Four Corners (intersection of Kent-Kangley Rd/516 and Maple Valley Highway/169) in the Safeway plaza, MV Eye Care is a new facility that caters to your eyecare needs. They use state of the art equipment to examine your eye and manage your account. For example, Dr. Neal uses one to establish a baseline reading of your prescription. Soon you can come for your eye check-up and eliminate the need to get your eyes dilated. They are getting a machine that photographs your eye (retina?).
Their eyeglass selection was limited for me because of my taste and preferences. However, they carry BCBG, Coach, Nike amongst other industry frame carriers.
Dr. Neal was friendly, professional and a good listener. His staff were knowledgeable about their products and services. Overall I had a good experience during my eye exam. I deducted one star because I wasn't happy about how insurance and the new patient information was handled.
MV Eye Care handles 80% VSP. Call ahead to make an appointment, it is usually within two weeks. There is plenty of parking available.

Support a local coffee roasting company! Unlike other local coffee shops and drive thrus that charge premium Starbuck's price points, Java! Java! has reasonable prices on coffee, chai and granitas. The ladies at the drive thru stand in Lake Wilderness Center are always very friendly and polite.
They have 3 locations: Lake Wilderness Center (Witte Rd and Maple Valley Hwy/169), Four Corners (Kent-Kangley Rd/516 and maple Valley Hwy/169) and Lake Meridian (off Kent-Kangley Rd/516).
There is a $10 minimum on credit card charges. However, they have gift cards that you can load. I believe if you buy 9 drinks, the 10th is free.
