Known as a upscale market with a lot of variety of organic and specialty label items, this family-owned grocery store has several locations but has not lost its neighborhood charm. It’s a fun place to wander the aisle and see what sorts of products are there. The longer you stay the more will end up in your shopping basket however. Lots of imported items, too!

Don’t hold the fact that it is at the Stanford Shopping Center against this market. While not very big, it does have some things going for it, including a good produce department. It also carries other grocery items, and has the benefit of convenience going for it if not price. (It was a life-line to students stuck on Stanford campus.) It’s a nice place to go for specific items, but you can get better deals elsewhere.

With two peninsula locations to serve your needs, this market is sure to have what you need. It has a great selection of produce, and a neighborhood market feel, and good prices can be found, with occasional great deals, too! It’s family-owned and apparently several generations work in the business. It puts out nice advertising that will highlight a particular item on sale, and give tips on everything from entertaining to picking the best item for your occasion. This is my second-favorite produce market.

Just as the name says it’s all about euro-style kitchen items, so if you want to remodel your kitchen to look like it’s the domicile of a professional chef, come on by. If you like kitchen gadgets, you’ll love this store.

Locally owned, this is a fine establishment (formerly called Bandera) that caters to a trendy set, as well as locals just out for a night of fun. A large posh space with a centrally-positioned bar, it’s perfect for dinner, drinks, or happy hour – you name it! The parking lot is always full as it is a favorite spot. The bartenders are good sports, and entertaining. A great dinner spot in downtown Los Altos.

If you have an Apple Macintosh computer (who ever call it the full name anymore?) and you live on the peninsula, then you’ve like passed by this store, situated in what looks like an oblong box with the big “We Fix Macs!” banner emblazoned on the side. Peopled with certified Mac technicians, who seemingly eat, breathe, and sleep Macs, if you computer is acting funny take it here for a tune-up or upgrade.

The prominent location and the slick-design of the store front say it all -- riding a bicycle is so ultra-cool, you would be a fool not to get one from us! But don’t make the mistake of thinking this store is all style and no substance! Sure the place is pretty, but it is all about the gears, wheels, and spokes that make bicycling so exciting. The staff knows their stuff – it’s not like they don’t ride themselves… Just wonder in and look at all the cool stuff, you can’t help but notice the store.
