Great America can be a fun place to visit, but rememeber it is a theme park, and it has all the issues that one associates with such places -- over-priced amenities, huge crowds, long lines, and a big-ticket admission. That said, if you enjoy theme parks then you'll have a good time. It has some good rides, and there are also live performances and other events that take place at the park. It's conveniently located on the peninsula, and easily accessible to most (You can even take public transit.) If you can get past the cost, you can have fun. (Try buying a multi-use pass at a discount if you plan to go more than once in the season.)
