It seems like every dish at the South Loop Club is a bit off. The burgers are big, but very bland. The nachos are good and cheesy, but they use ... giardinera? in place of salsa. They offer tacos in chicken or ...gyros? Now, the wraps were palatable. And the fries were really good. But if you're going here for some food, you'll know this place is really more about the beer. Inside is a dark, sprawling sports bar that gets absolutely packed to the gills when da Bears play. If you're eating in and drinking non-alcoholic, be warned -- there are no free refills on the dinky little cups they give you. We found this out when we got the bill, unfortunately. Drink a few of their 50+ different beers and I'm sure it'll taste better.

Good venue. Intimate, yet roomy, with a great sound system and shoulder room to boogie. Good views of the stage throughout. The bartenders are very speedy, but the beer was a bit pricey. Feels right at home if you're there to see your favorite band. I had a run-in where I found security to be really paranoid and pushy, but it didn't detract too much.
As you could probably tell, it's really more about the music than the bar. But it works just fine as a music-bar.

Father & Son features a list of smaller specialty pizzas that I found were more impressive than the standard ones I took tastes of. I believe mine was the Garlic Chicken, and there were some excellent flavors going on.
The space was ok. Service was a bit lacking. Very family-friendly, avoid if you don't like dining with kids. Not the best, but interesting nonetheless.

I'm afraid I've only ever had the take-out, so I don't know about the in-house service. Just get your hands on the Mongolian Beef any way you can and chow down!

This place ended up being my regular lunch spot when I was working nearby. They've got plenty of food, so you won't get bored, and they offer a student discount. They sell deli sandwiches, hot dogs, panini, White Castles, hot Soup, Ice Cream, all kinds of chips, and more. Full-service cafe as well, with house blends and espresso. The salad bar isn't that great. The service is very chatty and friendly, but the whole service process is a bit cluttered and you have to tell them your order about 5 times.
Check it out if you live around there. Makes for a good, quick lunch spot.

Kinda dry. Interesting as always to poke around in .. I just didn't get any big sense of the store's specialty area or niche, though they did seem to have a lot of film books. Downstairs is their collection of books on sale, probably twice the size of the normal section, with stacks laying about on tables and long shelves. About what you'd expect from used books -- kinda cruddy. The staff seemed impatient and curt, reluctant to give me my student discount. I'd leave this one to the hardcore book geeks only -- they might get something out of it. To me, it just came off as cruddy.

How excited I was when my first apartment in Chicago was right around the corner from a pizza place. How disappointed I was when the overpriced, "New York" style (I'm all for counterpoint, but what gives?) pizza fell flat. Got Pizza is trying to run before it can walk -- they make all sorts of custom permutations with their fancy ingredients, but something is still fundamentally very wrong. I do like the dining space. And aside from the price, I had no complaints about the Caesar salad I got there, when it was too cold to go anywhere else and I was /still/ avoiding the pizza. A pizza joint around the corner from me and it's this? Thanks, guys.

Upscale, with a real eye for design. Almost as if the place were run by sushi chefs -- oh, wait.
The college crowd shouldn't be afraid. It's not terribly pricey if you just go for some artful noshes. My Dragon Roll (eel with wasabi mayo) was a bit heavy on the sauce, but I didn't mind. There's enough on the menu to keep you amazed, and likely dazzled when it comes out. Going for enough sushi for a full meal might be a little pricey, but I'd guess it'd be worth it.
Everything in here is really beautiful, from the furniture and decorations to, of course, the food. Gracious and courteous service. If food and art are your two favorite things, you'll feel right at home.

Sick of all this trendy, spicy, fusion, in-your-face grub? Come to Harna and turn it down a notch. Like eating at your Polish Grandma's on a holiday -- easy on the senses and easy on the wallet. Make no mistake -- it's not bland or boring. (Beef tongue in horseradish, anybody?) Rather, it's hearty, filling, and all sorts of nostalgic. Don't miss the borscht. Dinners come with bread rolls, a cute little teeny-tiny salad, and a bowl of jello at the end. Very gracious service. Evokes all sorts of warm sighs and big smiles.

Costa Rican? I'd be the type to go in on curiosity alone. But even the most wary won't be disappointed. This tiny building off Millwaukee has a wide and exotic selection. I tried the Tostones con Mojo, fried plantains with a chopped garlic sauce.
Unique, but I'm not rushing back for a repeat visit. I bet it gets a lot of business from us curious folk. Still, stop on by -- Costa Rican just might be your flavor.
