For the chocolate lover in your life who might want to watch their waistline (or perhaps you?) but still wants to be fulfilled by the scent and sensuality of chocolate - check out this new company and their fun and novel spa products. I’ve been using, and giving away, their chocolate lip balm products (YUMMY!) and I’m waiting for a slow evening to enjoy the chocolate bath so I can relax in a tub of chocolate – like I’m in my own chocolate milk J but without the calories.
With Xmas coming up it’s worth checking them out. They’re local to Seattle and they actually use chocolate in the manufacture of their products. They get their supplies from Theo Chocolate, new in Fremont but in the old Red Hook Brewery building. This is one of only ELEVEN chocolate roasters in the world! I didn’t have a clue about it till I took a tour recently with one of the gals that works with Sweet Beauty. Theo is also a place you’ll need to check out – they use organic, fair trade chocolate for most of their products and they offer private tours.

I just finished completing a refinance on my personal residence and Eric was the lender I used. He is also a person that I refer a lot of my real estate clients to as well as he has been in the lending business for 20+ years. Most of those were spent at WaMu but since they are changing a lot of their loan programs and practices Eric finally sought a change of employment.
He is now managing a new Countrywide branch in the U Village area of Seattle. His team is professional, knowledgeable and I am a HUGE fan! My own personal loan experience was simple and pleasant - they even came to my house to pick up the documents they needed rather than making it go the other way around - which I appreciate as a busy real estate professional. I'm usually running around for my clients so it was nice to have it done for me for once. :)
Fees are low and very manageable on both new purchases and refinances. I highly recommend anyone looking for a lender for property of 1 to 4 units to talk with Eric. It's also a big plus that he has an economics background so he really knows what he's talking about and he isn't "just a sales guy." His colleague, Allison Potter, is also fantastic. You'll enjoy working with them both.

Once a week I have been going to a group fitness conditioning class with a bunch of other women with whom I play volleyball. Our conditioning coach is Darren Gore and, as I've been telling people, he really kicks our butts - and I love it! He's put together compelling and interesting workouts each time we've been there and I have to say that I am starting to see some good results.
If I could stop putting food and wine in my mouth I'd probably be losing a ton of weight but even without that happening I can see toning and strengthening happening to my body. It's been wonderful to feel strong again after having ripped my hamstring muscles this past spring. Darren's workouts have really helped me regain strength and I'm running up stairs and doing all kinds of good workouts because of him - and the group dynamic. He's got a good attitude and he's a nice person to boot!

This a great costume purchase and/or rental store on Roosevelt at about NE 71st St called Vintage Costumers that has all kinds of period clothing - it runs the gamut from old style European gowns and finery to Catholic school girl costumes. I've rented from them in the past. It's on the west side of Roosevelt just north of NE 70th so near the Whole Foods store.
The only drawback is since so many of the costumes are one of a kind you may not find what you want in the size you need.

For several years I have avoided all Tully's coffee shops because I didn't like the flavor of their espresso drinks. I've now changed my mind after a recent visit - albeit it reluctant on my part - where I had a quite tasty latte.
The cranberry granola square that I had to go with my coffee was a bit more sugary than it likely needed to be and the cranberry fruit was less fruity than it was like a fake version of fruit filling but at least the latte got me to see them in a new light. If I have to meet a client or friend at a Tully's now I won't make an argument to go elsewhere.

I was at Spa Envy a couple of days ago with two of my best friends and we had a very good experience here. The gal that booked it had been here before but it was new for me. I LOVED the chairs that they now use for doing pedicures. We were all able to get massaged while we had our feet done and we all also had the stone massage treatment. The stones can be a bit hot but if you say something the women will make sure you are comfortable.
For those other reviewers that disparage the staff for not being more friendly they should keep in mind that these women are also gauged on their skills of tidyness and for not hurting you - if you start distracting them from their work, particularly when they might have cuticle clippers in their hands, someone could get hurt. I prefer that they pay attention to the work at hand (or foot in this case) as it frees me up to have a great chat with my girlfriends which was the main reason we were there. I'll definitely go back - for the money it was great to get the feet done (they looked FAB!) and to get the massage on top of it!

I wrote this review a while ago but they are my business CPA office. They've been great and I've been using them for 3 years. As a testament to how much we like them, my business partner is a former CPA and accountant, and he's very pleased with their services. We recommend them to our real estate clients too. Another CPA we really like working with is Phil Maxeiner based in Kirkland.

The info for Key Chao (pronounced "chow") is on my resource page of my business website: http://www.teamreba.com/resourcecenter.htm I've had Key working for me on and off for about 7 years and now that I have a yard with no grass he still does annual clean up work and I hire him to do maintenance on my real estate client's listings while we have them for sale.
He's a great guy and he's got a couple of workers that help him get the job done quickly and efficiently. He's also very responsive and reliable.

I've been going to Greenlake Animal Hospital for a long time (about 15 years) and I've always had good experiences. It's worth going to see them and since they have multiple veterinarians at the office you have a choice as to who you see. Lately I've been specifically asking for Dr. Mortimer as he has helped in some major cases with our pets and I know he's getting to know their personal histories, which I really like. I take both cats and dogs to see them and have yet to find a reason to do otherwise.

I just had a 2nd bad experience with First American and a client of mine. Neither time these folks have been called out in a real estate contract that I've been involved in has my client been the one to designate them and from now on I will push the issue with the other party to change.
Not only has there been bad service but it's more of the lack of accountability that has ticked off me and my clients. The first really bad experience was in late spring of 2006 when a client was buying a new condo. The gal conducting our signing appointment kept using her new status as an employee to not go take off a $600+ fee that we knew needed to be removed from my client's settlement statement. At one point she asked me what I expected her to do so I told her, "get out of your chair and find the person that did work up our file and have them fix the problem!"
The most recent problem was with a client who was selling her condo through me. The escrow agent held back a lot of fees that were unnecessary resulting in time lost for me and my client in having to track down the errant checks. But, more egregious was the delay of her proceeds being transferred to her bank by a day because an employee lied about her ability to reach my client regarding a payoff statement issue with her bank. This client of mine is one of the most accessible people I've known so hearing the escrow agent telling me she couldn't reach her all day was a load of crap. I know better and my client said she'd been available by both phone and email - which I knew because I'd been talking to her all day.
The account sales rep has been notified so hopefully service will improve but I was also told that they just experienced a fairly substantial layoff because the real estate market is slowing locally. It might be slower than it was in the past 3 years but it is still pumping right along - my business continues to grow. I wonder how much of their problems came from this article I found in the paper just yesterday http://archives.seattletimes.nwsource.com/cgi-bin/texis.cgi/web/vortex/display?slug=title18m&date=20061018 Not good news for First American to be on the top of the list of offenders.
