As a full service real estate agent I wouldn't normally think of myself as someone who would recommend a place that has a name just like one of my competitors. BUT, I met a group of gal pals here for a January girl's night out and we got to benefit from the 3 for $30 program going on.
We each ordered from this month's special menu and we were all very satisfied with the end result. I specifically ordered the following "3" for my $30:
Endive salad with pomagranate dressing, and blue cheese crumbles.
Sushi platter (it had escarole, salmon (white and king), tuna, spicy tuna roll, seaweed, diakon and more.
A lychee nut and macadamia nut torte.
It was an amazing amount of food for the price paid. RUN don't walk to Red Fin. Oh, and you'll also notice while you're there that the decor is pretty cool too.

Jackie, the owner of R&R is a really sweet gal and very knowledgeable about massage after many years of being involved in this line of work. We met recently when I hired her to do work on my dad who was seriously injured this year in a car accident. His injuries have caused permanent disabilities and Jackie's massage work is helping him to deal with rebuilding some of his physical capabilities.
I've found her to be empathetic, hard working, kind, and determined. While she may not meet everyone's idea of a massage person (some want a soothing and calming demeanor) I found her to be exactly what the doctor ordered, or in this case, what the daughter ordered. Having read that stretching is a #1 priority for brain injured patients it was imperative that I get some kind of help for my dad after Medicare cut off his physical therapy.
Jackie also offers a 5-pack deal that is really reasonable in price. Her basic fee (as of 2007) is $60 per hour but you can buy 5 hours for the price of 4 in a 5-pack purchase. To me, that's a good deal.

It had been a while since I ate at Armondo's but now that I've moved to Renton it was time to go back. Actually, the day I showed my partner Michael the house I wanted to buy we went there for dinner to talk it over. Much like a prior reviewer there didn't seem to be anyone covering the hostess stand but we went ahead and seated ourselves at the bar and ordered a martini. The gal who was working the bar was pleasant enough although she was busy covering tables and the bar.
We had our martini and ordered dinner including starter Ceasar salads. So far so good. The Ceasar's were good and we got extra anchovies just the way we like. For an entree I ordered the eggplant parmesiana. It was very tasty and I had enough for leftovers the next day (dreamy for me). Michael was able to order the puttanesca (his favorite Italian dish behind pizza) but he had to ask them to NOT put in the eggplant in their version. He can't stand that particular veggie and he thought it odd that it was included in the ingredients - but at least they did post it and they make each batch to order so he could ask for it to be left out. I think that's a good thing in terms of customer service.
We had a glass of wine each with dinner and called it good for the night. We'll be back for sure since it's pretty close to home now.

We had dinner here the other night after a long day of painting at our new house in Renton. Considering my partner, Michael, had read 2 bad reviews about it before he was skeptical as we walked in. Let me tell you, he had nothing to be skeptical about. We both really enjoyed our meals and we will definitely be back!!!!
I had the Kansas City (BBQ) Chicken sandwich which was very tasty - even when I had bites without chicken in it the freshness of the other ingredients made it tasty. I also liked the option of regular fries and sweet potato fries. You have other options too but these were the 2 we took advantage of that night. Michael had a burger with bacon added and he made easy work of finishing it off.
To complete the meals we both had ale that evening. Michael got 2 different flavors and I had the cask conditioned Black Butte Porter - a fave of mine. Given the nice list of ales on their menu (and on draft) we will be making this a regular "stop" for us in Renton! :)

Yesterday I had lunch here with a work colleague. We both enjoyed our entrees although the side salad I opted for (over fries) with my salmon sandwich was a little over the top with the dressing. It's easy to overwhelm a mixed green salad with too much vinaigrette. The BBQ salmon sandwich was tasty though and I had no problem finishing it.
My pal had a big turkey sandwich (with cranberry and cream cheese) with fries and she pretty much cleaned the plate. We then shared a sundae for dessert. A tasty finish to a tasty little meal (sans the salad).
Also nice is that they take the Passport card so we saved about $11 as well on the bill. Nice! Since this restaurant is just down the street from my real estate brokerage office, I will be back.

My partner and I recently transferred home locations from Seattle to Renton. Oddly enough both of us, at separate times, have lived in Renton before so it was no surprise that Michael knew this restaurant well from years ago. He loves Vince's for the puttanesca, his favorite Italian dish, which isn't on every Italian restaurant's menu. Since we ate here with friends we learned that one in the other couple also is a puttanesca fan. Who knew? I think both the men were happy but I could tell our friend may have had higher expectations given Michael's description.
Either way, me and the other woman both ended up ordering the same meal which was a pasta primavera - the special that day. The penne was done very well (meaning, it was good not "well done" as in overcooked) and the amount of vegetables was impressive - as was the level of garlic in the simple sauce. Considering their wine prices are extremely reasonable and the cost of the meals were as well - we were pretty happy. Throw in that they also accept the Passport card (2 for 1 entrees) we walked out feeling satisfied and with leftovers for lunch the next day. A great deal!

I got braces with Dr. Hawley about 5 years ago and I was very pleased with his abilities. He is a bit shy but he does know what he's doing and he's good about explaining all the steps involved in any process he's doing if you want to know all about it.

While I've never been to the counterpart in Seattle, I have been to the Bonefish Grill that recently opened in Wichita, KS a few times now. Two of the three times were really good experiences and I'll focus on those. The one experience that wasn't as good had more to do with our wait staff person than the restaurant itself.
First, let me wax romantic about my love for the crab cakes here. YUUUUUMMMMMM!!!!!!! After sampling these on my first visit to this restaurant I was afraid that it was a one time good night for crab cakes because I was swayed by the good time I was having, but I can say that after a 2nd turn with these as my dinner (and dining alone) I can report that they were just as good the next time around. I highly recommend them if you are a crab fan - or even if you aren't.
The caesar salad here is also good and I was able to make a wonderful meal out of crab cakes and this salad which made me plenty happy. However, if you're looking for more than this for dinner you'll be pleased with the full menu of items. One section of the menu allows you to choose a style of fish or crustacean and the sauce that is served with it. This is a wonderful option if you think you'll be here more than once so you can try fish out with all kinds of flavors as accompaniment. Choices for the sauces include lemon butter, mediterranean, and a mango salsa. (There is one more but I've forgotten it already.)
My 2nd visit here I had the Chilean Sea Bass with the mango salsa. Also very good - but I did get vegetables that weren't quite steamed enough so they were really crunchy.
The crab lump soup is tasty as well if you want that as an option over an appetizer or a salad to start. The bar makes a mean vodka martini (it's good) and the wine list is pretty decent considering how limited the overall selection of wines are in the whole State. For a girl who is a Seattle-ite this is a place I will frequent on my visits to Wichita to give me a reminder of food from home.
For fun, seek out a server named Scott and ask him about his side Karaoke career....

Recently I had to buy a 2nd home in another city and with that purchase I needed to fill it up with the appliances and furniture I would need on a daily basis. To keep expenses low I went for lower cost items for the appliances and so far I've been happy enough with the products that I'm rethinking how I purchase products like this in the future.
The adage "you get what you pay for" is true most of the time but the guy who started that phrase may never have had to things on a budget. ;) No, really, I have been happy so far with the toaster and microwave I purchased that were Chef Mate brand and I bought them at Target. This store got a lot of my business as I was furnishing my new place - all except for the major furniture pieces. I'll write about those in a review of Furniture on Consignment (they sell all new too).
For now though, if you're trying to fill a dorm room or a 1st time apartment on a budget and want decent appliances that don't cost an arm and a leg - check these deals out. The toaster cost me less than $7 (before tax) and the microwave was under $50 and that included a digital display - there was an even lower cost one (around $30) that had dials instead of digital controls.

I joined a couple of girlfriends here for my first visit to the downtown Seattle version of this wine bar/restaurant this past Thursday. (I've been to the one in Kirkland several times.) The restaurant area is huge compared to the Eastside version and encompasses two levels of space along with having an enormous tower of wine in the center of the restaurant. It's an impressive, yet loud, setting. The noise comes partly from the large number of people but also because there are so many hard surfaces in this place that sound bounces around - huge plate glass windows, concrete bars and floors, metal chairs and tables, and an open layout. It's gonna get loud no matter what. But it is architectural eye candy.
I had a tasty salad that consisted of cubed chicken, cranberries, green onion, and celery. I loved it! The size of it was a bit more than I could handle and still eat a small appetizer of the skewered scallops - which were also tasty. Wines by the glass ranged from roughly $6 to $15 a glass mostly. Kind of pricey since you can buy a bottle of "Tuesday wine" for the equivalent amount of money but going to Purple is all about being seen. They do have a series of interesting flavored sparkling waters on the menu too that each of us sampled. One gal had kumquat, I got lavender (tasty!) and the other gal got lemongrass. I loved this stuff and forgot to get the name of the product because I'd love to have it again.
My girlfriends and I were out for a night of conversation and catching up so we ignored the many single men that were clearly there to look for "talent" as one of my male friends would put it. And, there was plenty of talent to be found. It's an interesting place to go and I'll likely go again. If you want to stay under $30 for the night you'll want to pick a good choice of a glass of wine and stick with just a salad or an appetizer like we did. I can see the bill getting pretty hefty here real quick if you aren't paying attention to what you're ordering.
