The food is much better than 'standard' U.S. Mexican fare...from the tasty warm tortillas they offer w/butter and salsa when you walk in the door to imaginative vegetarian entrees and awsome mole sauce, this place is really good.

My favorite when it's in season is their fresh plum danish...overall, my recommendations for getting the most out of Besalu is to focus on a savory quiche and eat it there, and grab a few pasteries to enjoy the rest of the day/weekend. They have some tables and chairs out on the sidewalk that are ideal for you and your dog to sit, eat, and people watch!

Tom Douglass is the best and this place is a favorite of mine. Good seasaonal choices, Northwest flair...and the world's best coconut cream pie. Great downtown location and open late...
Tom Douglass is the best and this place is a favorite of mine. Good seasaonal choices, Northwest flair...and the world's best coconut cream pie. Great downtown location and open late nights--definitely the place to go when you're going to be downtown for an evening.

I have been having Valerie at Zerene cut my hair since she opened the salon five plus years ago. She is great, the place is great. Only drawback--It can be hard to get an appointment with short notice
