One of a handful of Allston eateries that caters to the hung over brunch crowd. Either quick take out or sit in, their egg and cheese sandwiches are greasy and tasty. You can't really screw up eggs, and these guys don't, but they sure don't make it seem healthy. Their coffee is reasonably strong, and their service is good enough. Early afternoon, you're not going to hit any major mobs.

I've never left Steve's confident that a bathroom was not my next destination. Unless you're careful, it's destiny. It's a small hole in the wall in Allston, and the chef looks like some mentally challenged ogre who kind of stares at all the kids as they eat their breakfast/lunch. The waitress must be his mother, and she is sweet as can be. The strawberry pancakes are just pancakes with a side of chunky strawberry sauce (which i think is the bowel moving culprit). Their home fries and omelets are pretty amazing...and there's red hot on every table. It's a good way to rid the toxins from your body alright.

This place makes a mean chicken souvlaki wrap. If you're walking on the street, across from where the big bus stop is in Harvard Square is the Greek Corner, next to Charlie's Kitchen. You walk 5 steps up the little blue stairs and you're in the shop. They have gyros, falafel, souvlaki, and all kinds of things you'd be daring to try. Try the chicken souvlaki first, and just say yes to everything. If you like it, go back for the falafel...the mix is a little dry, but ask them to put in extra of all of the goods. It's huge too. Either take it downstairs to their little seating area, or hoof it a few hundred feet to JFK park and relax by memorial drive and the Charles river.

This may fool you as being just a neighborhood bike shop, but they do some of the best work around. When I first moved into the area, I brought my crappy old mountain bike with me. I knew it needed a tune up, but wasn't ready to shell out dough for that. But I did need to get a bike lock. I went into bills and had a 15 minute conversation with one of the guys about locks and how I should protect my bike around the city. The next week I got a flat tire. He remembered me, and got me a slightly used tire and and new tube for ridiculously cheap. If I ever need air, I ride on in and they pump me up. They're awesome people, and they know their bike stuff.

I took my car for an oil change and saw that they would inspect brakes for free. I had been having a problem and asked them to take a test drive and let me know what they thought. After something like 7 hours, after a promised 2, they told me my rear rotors had become rough and were wearing my pads out quickly. So they replaced the rotors and pads in the back and said I was fine in the front. Going home, my car was screeching a bit and still giving me the same problem as before. I took it back, they said the found it to be fine. Later, when I went to a dealership he told me my front rotors were warped without even taking it for a test drive. So, the guys at Monro did the job backwards...but for half the price of the dealer.

Tiger Lily is a Malaysian and Chinese restaurant in the Symphony area of Back Bay. I went there to celebrate a friend's birthday, and my party and I were early. We took a table in the bar and tried to order some appetizers and drinks. The Bartenders were so aloof, we didn't even get menus until one of us went to the front of the restaurant to ask for them. Two bartenders, 3 customers. You'd think they'd have gotten the job done. The food finally came out, and was really average, the dim sum platter I got was no better than mall chinese food and the scorpion bowls left our wallets empty and our experience, unfortunately, a sober one.

No, no, not that movie with Kenan and Kel, this place serves up some good burgers. They serve at near Fast food pace with a slow-grilled taste. B. Good takes pride in cooking with natural and fresh ingredients, shaving their own fries (which can be great some days, and a little extra crispy others), and paying attention to detail. Their food is healthier than other fast-food burgers, and a bit more expensive, but if you're down by Copley and are jonesing for some Burger King, walk a few blocks and try out a B. Good burger. And check out their rap video...http://www.bgood.com/ourvideo_big.php

Located down by the World Trade Center, the Harpoon brewery isn't near very much. Aside from taking the new silver line into the area, you probably have to drive. The Brewery has a few big festivals every year, the highlight probably being the Oktoberfest. It is $12 to get in and then you still have to pay for food and beer, but the beer is fresh and there are traditional German OOM PA PA (sp?) bands rocking out. It's a great time. Otherwise, just pop in and take a tour, or better yet, go straight to the gift shop and fill up a huge Growler bottle with your favorite beer to take home for only $5. It doesn't get much better than that.

I went to see a show here, big name act, front row. yay me. Oddly, the venue has some clause about not having general admission entertainment. Not that I minded, due to my seating, but for everyone else, it was not the kind of show you wanted to watch from a seat. Also, if you're an out-of-state person, you can't even buy a beer unless you're 25. At 24, and with an out of state license and a passport, They would not serve me a miller light. Thanks a lot.

On game night, Jillian's is surprisingly not overcrowded. The place is huge. I met some friends who were going to a sox game and had some beers and some appetizers. Even though we were drinking Bud Light, I think they were still about 4 bucks a plastic bottle; makes me wonder what a Bass goes for. Regardless, The place wasn't as obnoxious as you'd think. There are tons of TVs, even one whole wall of them, all showing different pre-game programs. There are probably 50 pool tables too, so you can even bring the kids.
