As I walked by La Carta De Oaxaca today around 12:45 I noticed that people were inside. WHAT!!?? It can't be true! They are now open for lunch from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. This is the only place in Ballard that I truly want to each lunch at every day. I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT and now I can have a little taco yum-yum with my pals from Blackbird! God bless America!
Also they seem to have outdoor seating. I believe this is new.

As for style, I'm not sure what you define as stylish. I find their styles to be too comfortable for my taste but your guy might find the styles to be exactly his look.
From what I can tell, they carry many eco and politically friendly brands. The best is their AdBuster shoe called No Swoosh which is a take on Nike's Swoosh.

Best of all is the view. It's the strangest thing I've seen in the Northwest. I grew up here and I know Seattle clouds, weather and daylight. From the top of this building, you feel like you are looking out on a Teletubbies land. The hills roll in a wierd way. The lighting is wacky and the clouds are stuck in places they shouldn't get stuck. It's a trip.

I took the Mastering the Basics course at the Bon Vivant cooking school.

This is a 9 weeks course (9 sessions). It is not a hands on course although there are times when you can assist if they need a helper. The class truly covers all of the basics but in no way will you "master" them.
The true value of the courses was Louise and her vast knowledge and opinion regarding everything relating to food. She will tell you where to buy the freshest seafood in Seattle, who to ask for and exactly how to request just the right cut. She can tell you which stores to avoid buying cheese from because they over buy which makes their selection no so fresh. This gal has moxie and tells it like it is. For me this was worth the tuition.
But don't forget that you want to learn to cook the basics. The classes are not hands on and this can make it truly difficult to build skills. Unless you have one evening for the class and one to two additional nights to go shopping for ingredients and practice the dishes you'd be better off looking for a hands on course.
I had decent cooking skills going into the series but my friends with limited skills got nothing out of it because they truly needed to learn through experience.

Jill at Impulse has the knack for fashion. This girl is always ahead of the curve and has no problem taking risks on the clothing she buys for her store. With so many girly stores in Seattle, Jill has done the right thing and now carries those impossible to find, high end basics like suits, trousers and blouses that every wardrobe requires. I can't look like a circus every day. Best of all, she spends a lot of energy searching for the perfect, pencil skirt, canvas shoe, party dress and skinny jeans so that you don't have to. This is the best edited store in Seattle. Anything you buy at Impulse will be in style for at least three years before the rest of the folks catch on. To me, that is true value.

I also ate well and thought each dish was truly tasty and fantastic looking.

You can't beat India Bistro for quality and value. The veggies are seasonal and fresh and I always end up with enough food for three meals. What seals the deal for me is that I always try something new here, where at other restaurants, I tend to get the same dish again and again. Take a risk, close your eyes and say nummers!
