Food is VERY oily, it's so oily it basically drowns out all the taste. For takeout, you'll be glad to have plenty of leftovers, but you might never want to eat them.
You can do better.

Though I do come here for the convenience, this nail salon is clean and well run. If you make an appointment, you get taken immediately if you're on time. All the nail technicians (is that the right term these days?) do a fantastic job - they TAKE THEIR TIME, make sure to carefully trim with clippers and cuticle trimmers so you don't end up bruised like some places I've been. Plus, they all seem well-trained to give massages!
I made my husband come here so his rough feet would stop waking me up, and he survived!
The back room has awesome massage chairs - if you're getting a pedicure, go in there!

If you haven't already been here, you just have to go for the bathrooms - they are all in a row, unisex, and as you wait for one to free up, you realize you can see people's shadows as they do their business (just that they are there, nothing more!) because the doors are made of fogged glass. When they open the door - you venture in, close it, and wonder if the fogging will disappear, or if anyone can see you. Being this uncomfortable is not fun, but it's an experience!
Drinks are pricey, but atmosphere is nice for one drink.

Pascalou is just down the street from Bistro du Nord and also merits a visit! (Note, don't expect a cheap meal at either place.)
Pascalou is a bit smaller than Bistro du Nord, though feels a bit more open, as the bar is in the back, rather than front of the restaurant.
Food is sort of French + - menu changes seasonally and includes choices from fish, veggies, meat, and chicken.
Dessert is also FANTASTIC.
Don't miss it if you're in the neighborhood!

This is a tiny French restaurant on 94th and Madison that feels very authentic French - very tight seating, white paper table cloths, intimate decor.
It's fairly noisy, but that's because everyone is laughing and having a great time. The service seems perfectly timed, I always love what I eat there (salad, escargot, duck confit, whatever!). Pacing seems perfect, but then, I'm always having so much fun I don't notice the time pass!
Bathrooms are TINY, but worth a trip because of the fun decor.
Great place to come as a couple, or with a small group of friends.

Very nice, relaxed atmosphere - was really nice to depart from the office and feel transported to a place where I felt doted upon, and the great food only added to the excellent experience.
Definitely a place to try if you haven't already!

I am a native New Yorker and had to find a well-located, low-priced hotel for a friend here in January. I found this place through an online search, and they were running a special for under $100 a night, so I booked my friend there, figuring she'd enjoy being near Times Square.
We were pleasantly surprised to find the rooms, though small, seemed to be clean, and quiet, even with a room looking out onto 45th street.
The decor was a bit fake/lush, but it was pleasant enough - I think it was just the kind of ornateness that works better in a big room than a small one, but, overall, would definitely recommend this hotel.

I do love Barnes and Noble, but sometimes it's nice to know other bookstores do exist!
Borders at Kips Bay has a large magazine selection towards the back on the first floor. It's not as large as the one at Barnes and Noble at Union Square, but it's still a good bet.
There are some fun gifts/gadgets/trinkets at the front of the store, and it has a bit more of a funky feel than Barnes and Noble.
There is also a cafe on the first floor.
This branch is also less claustrophobic feeling than the Borders on Park and 57th which has too many floors and feels too crowded.
The layout of the Kips Bay store is on 2 floors, very open, very manageable, good place to spend some time leafing through books.
If you need a break from Barnes and Noble, check out Borders!

This little Tribeca pharmacy recently expanded and the interior is now much brighter and more spacious.
For a relatively small drugstore, they have a wide array of OTC medications, creams, cold/allergy pills, etc. and an area where they sell greeting cards and the more organic products like shampoos and creams.
My insurance allows me to fill prescriptions here at a reduced cost. The first time I went, I was a little nervous - it looked like someone's teenage daughter was in charge, and the pharmacy area seemed very small, but she was very on-the-ball, processed my prescription quickly, and, all-in-all, it was a much better experience than the long waits at CVS, and the random Duane Reade support.
