We ate there on a Saturday night- around 7pm and for awhile, we were the only people there. Both sushi chefs we chatted with were from El Salvador- yes South American Sushi chefs...hmmm.
Anyhow, the set-up is interesting. 90% of the tables are at the sushi bar and in front of you is a moving conveyor belt. So as you are sitting there, if you see something that looks good, you grab it as it goes by, and dig in. However, the plates are not labeled, so unless you are a sushi expert, there is no way of knowing exactly what each plate is. If the chef is available, you could ask him what each dish is, but I think it would be easier to slap a sticker on the lid of each plate, so as it goes by you know what each dish is...wouldn't be too hard!
Each plate on the belt is a different color which connects to a price menu on the wall. Yellow plates are $1, Blue plates $1.50 and so on. Pretty easy to add up your tab as you eat. The drinks are pricey- $7 for sake and $6 for a beer. My husband and I ate our hearts out and only spent $23 total on the sushi. We are used to paying that much per person!
My main question is how long have those plates been circulating on the conveyor belt? They aren't super cold, and I am wondering how safe that is with raw fish?? I did not get sick, or even feel bad hours later, but it was on my mind all night...we might go back, but I think we will stick with Sushi Man in Issaquah.

My poor puppy looks like a rat. He was a 5mo old darling Goldendoodle, but now he looks so sad and embarrassed! Normally I use the Waggin Wagon, a mobile pet groomer, but for some reason she didn't show up for her apt last week. I couldn't reach her (and still can't but that's another review) so I called Petsmart, where I have shopped in the past, to see if their grooming dept had an opening in the next day or two. What luck! They could fit me in that afternoon! In any case, they were very nice when I dropped him off. Since he had never been groomed there, I was very clear that I liked his curly fur (not to cut it too short) and I liked his tail with the long hair (part of the Golden Retriever look he has). But that I didn't want a poodle cut, so just something even all over. Honestly the bath was more important at that point that the cut anyway. When I came back 3 hours later, I didn't even recognize my dog. He looks SO BAD! His cut is uneven and they shaved his tail completely. Granted, he is easier to dry off after he has played outside, but only because he has NO FUR! I think I could have done better with a pair of childproof scissors. DON'T EVER GO THERE!!!

I LOVE Stride Rite shoes but hate paying full price at the mall. SO...when I learned about the outlet at North Bend outlet mall, I was so excited! I actually was at Bellevue Square today and went into the Stride Rite store there. I took a quick look at the inventory and the prices. Then later that day I took my kids and went out to the North Bend outlet mall (lots of driving today!). I saw many of the same shoes (ok maybe last year's style- but SOOO similar) for less than 1/2 the price! Needless to say I bought 3 pairs and paid $60 instead of $120!!! They are super nice and helpful when measuring a child's foot and I have never had trouble finding the right size. Their selection is great! I highly recommend it!

I have always loved Target. As a matter of fact, I usually get in trouble when I go there because I buy WAY more than is on my list!
But now Target has this dollar section right as you enter the store. It really traps me and I always find really great stuff!
Today I found a recorder (musical instrument), wooden airplanes (2 per package), bell for a kids bike and lots of other fun stuff, all for only $1 each!
In the past I have seen cute wedding favors, picture frames, notepads and toys. Now they have tons of fun camping & outdoor summer goodies.
The only dollar store I know of is in Renton- pretty far from me- so this is a nice alternative. The inventory in this section is constantly changing, so there is always something new when we visit!

I was VERY disappointed in the service at Cucina Cucina this afternoon. My husband and I went with our 2 little kids (20mo & 4yrs) at 2pm Monday afternoon (Memorial Day).
Although the restaurant was busy, there was no wait and we were seated right away. However, we were seated off the main dining room adjacent to the bar area. I guess they were understaffed because our server was also the bartender.
We did not get so much as a "hello" for almost 20 minutes. Normally we would have left right then and there, but we were coming off a long drive home from a 3 day camping trip in the mud and we were tired and starving. So, we decided to tough it out. Should we have to do that at Cucina? It only gets worse from there.
We finally ordered and decided to start with the elephant garlic and bread loaf. By the time our entrees arrived, we still hadn't received our elephant garlic- only to find out from the food runner that they no longer carried that item. I guess our server decided not to tell us, or perhaps just doesn't know the menu very well because she is the bartender! In any case, the service was terrible and next time we will make sure to ask for a table in the main dining room.
One saving grace was that our kids were well entertained while we waited, drawing on the table- that is one thing we all look forward to each time we visit.

I don't know about you all but when the thermometer hits 85 or higher, I get hot! The last thing I want to do is go to a hot beach or an unshaded park. In the past I would take the kids to the mall, or the Pacific Science Center etc. But I know right where I'm going this summer on hot days...the Factoria Kid Quest Museum!
It is SO great!!! I have a 19mo old and a 4 1/2 yr old and they both can run around and find activities for themselves that are age appropriate. I can actually sit down and relax and not worry that my kids are destroying anything or getting into trouble! Often we will bring a friend for my older one, so they can run around and explore together.
An annual membership is only $60, and since it's $6/person to get in, that has paid itself off in droves! We try to go once a week and I bet on those hot and rainy summer days we will be there more than that!
HELPFUL HINT: Go after 1:30 in the afternoon and on a weekday...it is CRAZY on weekends and in the mornings. Have fun!

I wore glasses starting at about age 15 (I am 36 now), and never thought much about it. Until I noticed I was seeing double. It would happen when I was driving and had to turn around to view my blind spot, or when I was laying down on the couch watching TV. So I went to see Dr. Lenart and he told me I have strabisthmus (sp?), a condition that mostly occurs in children. I guess I have had it all my life but recently (after the birth of my 2nd child) it became more pronounced. In any case, he scheduled me for surgery 2 weeks later. I was black and bloue for a couple of days, but within a week I could see normally. I not only DON'T have double vision anymore, but I don't even need my glasses for nearsightedness! I am SOOO Happy! He is a great Dr. and his team of nurses are very thorough! He is now my regular eye Dr. and I see him yearly for a check-up...along with the 10 olther kids in the waiting room each time! :) Oh well!

It is SO hard to find a reliable mechanic- especially as a woman. I have an OLD minivan with 94,000+ miles on it. I live in my car as I have 2 kids and am constatnly driving them to and from school and activities. Other busy Mom's know what I mean! I live off Hwy 202, so NOTHING is close- I just assume I will be in the car for 30 minutes or more at a time.
With that much driving, I need a reliable car. Although I love my car, it has so many miles on it that things have begun to wear out. I have been a loyal customer of Auto Dynamix for years and I will NEVER go anywhere else. I used to go to my dealer for service, but felt screwed more than once- and never felt like they cared about me. Khea Khun at Auto Dynamix is very nice, totally honest and upfront about everything. My car is always ready when he says it will be (and most of the time sooner). I have never had to leave my car there overnight- he makes me a priority.
I feel like a queen when I come in for service. Give them a try- you'll never go back!

I have driven past Me N Moms many times - near Target, next door to Ross off Gilman in Issaquah- but never been in. Today I had a free minute and decided to check it out. I had my 19mo old with me, which anyone knows can be tricky when you are shopping. BUT the store had lots of fun toys that she could play with while I browsed the racks. They have tons of clothes for little ones- but a very small selection above size 3T. They also seemed to have a few racks of maternity clothes, but I wasn't shopping there (thank goodness! :) In the end, I found 7 summer things for my 19mo old all for less than $31! I have shopped consignment stores once before - Tree House in Redmond- and I do think it is a little bit better- certainly bigger with more selection. But Me N Moms is much closer to where I live and I will certainly check it out again!
Hope that helps and good luck shopping!
