Ingrid's has the absolute best Mystic Tan with MagneTan technology. You get a stunning tan that looks like you just returned from a week's vacation. It's perfectly safe and looks amazing. The first time I did it everyone told me, "you've never looked better." I highly recommend Ingrid's. The staff is so sweet and spends lots of time with you to make sure you understand how to prep appropriately (the secret to good self-tanning is in the prep...not so much the application). Run to Ingrid's before your next event or vacation and you will see why I love it so much!
Plese don't tan in a tanning bed, though. Tanning beds are dangerous for your health. Period. The beds that are suppossedly "safe" are actually frying your skin underneath causing more wrinkles and drastically increasing your risk for multiple melanoma...the deadliest form of skin cancer. Also, once you get skin cancer you can NEVER go in the sun again, as long as you live. NOT worth it. (a friend of mine died from this.)

I went to Dr. Goodwin after I had read that he was the voted best dentist in San Mateo by a readers' poll. I will concede that Dr. Goodwin is nice and did a good job. His office staff, however, is a completely different story. I have Delta Dental insurance, as do many people who have dental insurance. The office repeatedly overcharged me and tried to bill me amounts that were not approved by Delta Dental. My insurance called them multiple times, as did I. The woman handling accounts receivable and responsible for the billing had no idea what she was doing and was incredibly rude. The problems went on for months and I finally sent a letter to Dr. Goodwin himself, upon which I received both a written and verbal apology from him and the office. I was shocked that an established office could conduct such shady billing practices but am relieved that it's finally over.

I was looking for a dentist and had posted an ad on Craigslist (before I discoverd Judy's Book!). When three separate people had emailed me to gush over Dr. Wakasa, I figured I had to try him. He is a fantastic dentist. He is pleasant, kind, and his demeanor makes you feel relaxed. His staff is friendly and professional. I have never experienced any pain or discomfort while having my teeth cleaned or xrayed. He takes a conservative approach to dentistry and doesn't fill cavities the second they appear. Instead, he monitors them closely through regular xrays to assess whether they are growing or staying the same size. If they increase, he fills them...of course. I love this approach. Although Dr. Wakasa is relatively young, he follows in his father's footsteps (his dad practiced in the same building for years. So he has the young, fresh approach combined with years of experience derived from his father. The best dentist ever!

Roti is an incredible restaurnat. The food is absolutely delicious. I recommend the mixed Naan basket and the Ghost Madras. There is also a shrimp dish in spinach that is fantastic (the name escapes me). The owners are very nice people and they also have a branch on West Portal in the city. The chef was the same chef at a prominent Indian restaurant in SF that was voted best Indian restaurant in SF for five years whilw he worked there. The beer at Roti is a good mix with the food and is served in nice, tall, chilled beer glasses. If you're going to have wine, though, I recommend you bring your own...the wine list leaves something to be desired and the corkage is reasonable. A great place for those that love Indian food as well as those who are just trying it for the first time!
