Settle in with a pot of steaming tea (I prefer jasmine) and give the menu a glance.
The setting is authentic Asian without being offensive to Japanese folks.
The salads are a great way to start your meal. But save lots of room for sushi and sashimi. The chefs have a delicate touch--you can tell they take pride in their work. The trio of tuna is fantastic. Fanned out in rose flower presentation this is truly a memorable dish.

Located on a busy thoroughfare, Yama, get a hearty walk in business. It's close to several clubs and movie theaters (Angelica Theater is few blocks away on Houston).
I like sitting at the counter and watching the chefs in action. They pile on the fish. For the price, this may be the best sushi deal in town.
While the presentation isn't quite as elegant as Omen, the fish is fresh and the chefs are adept.
Try the seaweed salad for a starter.

The layout is a bit strange. There is a large staircase and small elevator. SInce most customers will have strollers this doesn't really make sense. The staff sense to be disgruntled and the store usually looks a bit dirty.
They do have a breastfeeding room (again dirty) with a tattered but comfortable rocking chair. The bathrooms were also grimy.
On the plus side, they have all the name brands in furniture and a decent selection of clothing on the first floor.

Il Buco is just the answer to a romantic date dilemma. You'll impress the one your smitten with, yet you won't appear to be trying too hard.
The rustic interior consists of lengthy Italian farm table and lots of wood accents around the dining room. The setting feels most appropriate for fall dining.
The food is delightful. Nothing too fancy, just hearty southern Italian fare. Lots of rich fresh sauces involving heaps of ripe tomatoes.
The staff is laid back and leave you to enjoy your meal.. Try the veal if you've got a big appetite.

Not one to let Nike corner the market on cool sporting gear, Adidas opened their own sports emporium just north of Houston Street,
The two level store has lots of cool workout gear--most of it way to flashy to actually sweat in. The first floor looks to be dedicated to soccer gear. Many Europeans were milling about on my visit.
The second floor has the Stella McCartney line of sportswear as well as men's basics. One thing they were missing: men's swim trunks. Sadly, this was the only item I needed on my visit.
On an aesthetic note, the dark walls are a little too dramatic for the space. I love the building glass and metal exterior and well propped windows.

This theater gets all the best art house films as well as large budget documentaries. Read the reviews of upcoming flicks on blown up posters in the lobby.
The location (near Russ & Daughters see that review for notes on what to sneak into the theater) is near the F train--great fro Brooklyn folks.
The movies screens are large and the theaters size is intimate a great combination. The snack bar is adequate and the facilities are always clean.
Seldom do I find lines at this location. They even offer a Mommy & Me movie. Wednesdays at 11:00.

Adorned in white lab coats the staff makes it their business to give you their very best--the best food and the best service.
On the right is the sweet center. Dried fruits and candied nuts are stacked in glass cannisters. Chocolate covered fruit and tasty halvah line the shelves.
The left side has all the smoked fish and prepared dishes. The salmon is fabulous and the cream cheese spreads are heavenly.
Be prepared for long waits near the New Year and any Jewish holidays.

The flavor are exotic and the food surpasses the expectations of Mexican food lovers.
The guacamole is prepared table side to your specifications. The salsa is fiery and piquant.
The main dishes tend to be quite large. Try something adventurous like the fish dishes or one of the mole sauces.
As with all Mexican spots, it's best to skip dessert. Order another Margarita instead.

Stylish and sleek, these condos are the answer to folks fed up with Manhattan and looking for something new.
The building is prewar, but the renovations are top of the line and modern. The of the moment kitchen includes granite counters, wine coolers, sub zero refrigerator and thermador convection oven. The bamboo floors are stunning.
The city views top anything you'll get in Brooklyn Heights. There's a roof deck for those not treated to the sublime vistas provided by higher floors.
The amenities include a gym and a full-time staff. The residents seem to be young and hip. Many are commuting to Manhattan vis the F or A/C trains but some call Brooklyn home for work and play.
Toby Klein oversees the sales office.

The dramatic dining room has high ceiling and stunning artwork. The tables are set apart which makes conversation pleasant and convenient.
The food is quite respectable, but not entire memorable. The starters were excellent good traditional dips and salads. The fish was fresh but a bit bland. The lamb was slightly overdone.
Desserts were updated classics. I'd prefer a nice sticky gooey baklava to this dry version.
