We don't even have an account here, but we like to visit the penny arcade.
The deal is, you bring your piggy bank or coin jar and then dump it into their change machine. The machine lets you guess the amount of your change about to be counted, if you are within $1.99 the bank will give you a $1 reward. What fun for kids and parents alike.
This is a bright clean location with a friendly staff. The lines are always short and we've used their notary public service before.
This is what a neighborhood bank should be.

It's convenient and there are usually no lines. The staff is helpful and they made some decent recommendations.
There isn't a hair salon on the premises this is only a retail location. BUt, they can make suggestions about where and when to get cuts, color, etc.
I really like their Damage Control line of products, especially the deep conditioner.

The Gap was wise to enter the baby business. While their adult market penetration seems to e stagnant the baby biz is booming.
This particular Baby Gap is about average when it comes to sales staff. But it's a pretty straightforward affair--they either have the size out or not. It's not as if you have your 18-month-old try on onesies and sweaters.
The clothing is attractively presented and the sales section was very well organized (I never pay full price at The Gap). FYI their sale cycles tend to run every two weeks--wait and what you want will eventually be discounted.

I received a gift from VS that I intended to exchange at their large Fifth Avenue store. Though I got a friendly greeting at my welcome I was not impressed.
The store was dingy and the carpet was completely filthy. Th staff performed in a formulaic manner. The same sales woman said, "Hi, Welcome to Victoria's Secret can I help you with anything today?"
I told her once what I was looking for (they didn't have my size (which is a very regular size) in stock. Did she suffer from amnesia, she couldn't possibly forget my face 3x withing 10 minutes!
Overall very disappointing in: staff, selection and overall store quality.

Skip this humdrum scene and head upstairs for a more appealing crowd.
After work, lots of fun and chic folks head upstairs for drinks and nibbles. The martini's here are terrific. They have a special list of drinks so go wild and order something different. The spring rolls, dumplings and all the other tangy bits on the bar menu are fat laden but tasty--perfect thing to keep the alcohol in check.
Lots of comfortable red velvet chairs and wooden partitions make the room intimate. The lights are usually dimmed and hip lounge music is piped in for effect.
Great spot to meet gal pals post work.

The famous Mr. Chow's still attracts plenty of celebrities to dine in the shiny mirror laden dining room.
Tommy Hiilfiger ate across from me with his posse the last time I was there. The best bets are the green prawns and the dumplings.
Be expected to have the smarmy staff do a lot of up selling the bill can quickly spiral out of control it you don't do a little reigning in.
On the balcony overlooking the main dining area, you'll notice a Vegas-style show. It's a staff member preparing some type of long noodles...quite a spectacle.
The food is fine, but the real reason to come here is to watch all the people and soak in the freak show.

Though it's located in Brooklyn, this spot feels like it could be on the Upper East Side. The small dining room has lots of exposed brick and very safe landscape paintings adorning the walls.
The tables are comfortable and there's plenty of elbow room (unlike many Brooklyn dining spots).
The menu is fairly traditional and reflects seasonal vegetables and meats.
The chef does hes most daring work on the specials. The staff is professional and again unlike many spots over the Brooklyn Bridge over 20.
A great spot to take visiting parents to impress them with the fact that you really are a grown up.

This shop is on the ground level. The aisles are wide which makes strolling easy, which makes shopping a breeze.
The selection is good and there are always sale items. They seem to have many promotions so check for coupons at the checkout.
A great place to load up on play clothes. The sizes seem to be true and the clothes will be outgrown before the wear out.
Colorful and fun place to shop. Polite and helpful staff.

I used to wear 3 inch heels on a regular basis. Now that I'm chasing my daughter around the playground I have resigned myself to wearing flats.
Just because my shoes are now comfortable, doesn't mean they can't be cute. While the traditional mom uniform seems to involve pumas and Adidas sneakers, I like to mix it up with other flats.
Aerosoles make some nice feminine options. This store in the heart of Brooklyn Heights has a decent selection (always seem to have my seize even on sale goods). The staff is young and a bit rough around the edges (lots of inappropriate cell pone conversations). BUt if you are happy to help yourself you might find some inexpensive winners here.

Year in and year out this spot always gets great ratings. I've now tried the place twice and continue to be mystified by all the fuss.
First of all the room is completed tacky. Plastic posters and Japanese knick nacks fill the room. The tables are crammed together so you feel as if you're back to being packed on the 6 train.
The food is fine. The fish seems fresh enough, but nothing to write home about. The crowd is depressing. If you must order from here please get it to go.
