It really should be illegal to charge these prices. Bloomberg should do something about it. But alas, the lazy Upper East Siders who don't know how to cook will continue to drop dear coin at this establishment.
Let's break it down:
The fish isn't as fresh as Citerella
The produce isn't as good as Whole Foods
The selection isn't as good as Fresh Direct
The staff isn't as good as Agata & Valentina
Oh why oh why do people flock here! The bagels really aren't that good people.

This is a welcome spot, since we all know most of the residents in 10028 don't know how to turn their oven on. The salad is terrific, as are the other salads.
The specials are enormous--big enough to split. Let the staff recommend something and then take their suggestion and you won't go home disappointed.

I went to see the recent Basquiat and Dubuffet exhibit and I was floored. The staff knew how to put together a knockout. The way the works played off one another was ingenious. I look forward to seeing what this inventive gallery will come up with next. I think they scored the show of the season with this one.

This is my favorite Manhattan museum. I love the Frank Lloyd Wright design. It's a genius way to view a collection with a spiral layout. I usually walk to the top and then pick my way down returning to my favorites as I descend.
Of course there have been a few misses (I still do not forgive them for that Matthew Barney installation), but overall their splashy shows are worth a visit. The special programs called: Works & PRocess are phenomenal.
The permanent collection is excellent and always a good rainy day diversion.

The much maligned Whitney deserves a break. This board and curators do a great job of recognizing budding American talent and giving these artists a home. The biennial is a NYC event that shouldn't be missed.
The museum has a thoughtful layout. I appreciate the sense of humor the curators use when describing the more challenging modern pieces.
I love checking out the permanent Calder collection, it inspires me to gaze with childlike wonder.

I am surprised more Central Park Zoo caretakers don't get mauled by angry bears. If you must so to a zoo, please take your kids to the more spacious Bronx zoo.
I realized not every child will be able to see these animals in the wild, but come on, this is a disaster. And if you go in the lines and crowds are fierce. The petting zoo is nasty, smelly and vile. Enough said.

It's still a favorite spot. Yes, it basically fast food, but it's yummy and fresh(ish). The salads are well orchestrated (but oh are those dressings fat laden--please, please order them on the side). The southwestern items are the best (fajita pizza, etc.).
Skip the bread and order a pizza. Don't wimp out with just a salad. Though the Waldorf is respectable for a chain restaurant. The staff will provide crayons and paper for the ankle biters.

There is so much chocolate here it makes my teeth ache. The selection of jelly beans alone can send a diabetic into shock.
There's a old time soda fountain for sweet dates and a ton of candy by the pound (or ounce if you have some restraint). My favorite treat is the chocolate covered cookie dough clusters.

Have you been a very bad girl (boy) lately? Staying out late? Drinking too many margaritas and gnawing on too much red meat?
Give your liver and colon a little holiday at Candle Cafe. You can't order anything here that will harm you. Well, ok you could binge on organic wine but you'd be the first.
The meals are surprisingly filling. Each dish is packed with fresh spices and herbs to bring out the best in the vegetables and grains.
The starter dips are worth a try. The dining area is rather generic so take out is always a good idea.

The daily lemonade specials are refreshing and the salads are always crisp and snappy. Listen up when it comes time to hear the specials, they usually are quite worth the leap of faith. Vegetarians have a wide array of options and kids are welcome.
The booths are the best spots. No need for dessert, it's nothing special.
