About a year ago I got on a huge car kick. I wanted wheels. After some lengthy research on new and used cars, I was frustrated. WHen I added in the insurance and parking costs, it just didn't make sense as an urban dweller to own a car.
Zip car has been a great solution. The concept is a time-share car arrangement. All the reservations are made over the Internet, to keep costs low, on average with taxes gas etc all included, the car runs about $15/hour. Perfect for running errands.
There are several convenient pick up sites here in Brooklyn. THough, I do wish they'd be more responsive to my suggestions for additional lots.
It's a great idea for anyone who occasionally wants a car.
