I have always enjoyed going to the Discovery Channel Store. Almost everything they sell is educational, which will come in handy as my son grows up. They have building toys, books, exercise stuff, just loads of things that kids would find fun, but be learning while they use them. I heard from someone that they have a butterfly pavillion kit now, so I'm going to be making a trip up there to see if that's true!

This place has the most hilarious shirts! Every time I go in there I get a laugh. Anyway, the store is kind of dark (dark painted, not badly lit), and the music is kind of loud, but most of the people that shop there like it that way anyway. The employees are all very polite, the store is very well organized and clean, though a little cramped with all the cool stuff they sell. We just got our son a Yoda t-shirt there. I guess the freaks are growing up! ;)

Thrifty Florist is a nice little florist. They have a very nice selection of fresh flowers, arrangements, potted plants, terrariums, cards, and other gift items. Their prices are great, their delivery charge is low, and they'll even deliver the same day if they can. It's very nice in the store, not messy or too cluttered, although I wouldn't try to bring a stroller through if you can avoid it.

We rode our bikes up to the 10 and Van Dyke shopping center, and my handlebars had slipped into a very uncomfortable position. We dropped by Aco to get some hex keys, and they were very reasonably priced. They were even very nice about the fact that we bought standard and needed metric, and made the exchange quickly for us. They do need to get a better line system though, people were just kind of milling around the registers. But it's much faster to go here than a big box store like Lowes if all you need is something small.

7-11 is the only place for slurpees! If you need anything at four in the morning, odds are 7-11 has it. You'll pay a premium price for the convenience though. I constantly had a craving for Coke slurpees when I was pregnant, so it's a good thing they're open 24-7! They're also close to our Friday night dinner spot, next door to National Coney Island.

My husband and I went here looking for a dishwasher. We were barely through the door when the vultures started swooping in on us. The salesperson would steer us to items that were far too expensive, and then when we told him we'd like to just look for a minute, he did leave us alone. But all eyes from the other salespeople were suddenly on us. Like they were just waiting to pounce. We couldn't really do much shopping in such a high pressure store, so we went to Sears and got one there instead.

Yes, they certainly R babies! We did our baby registry at Toys R Us before finding out there was a Babies R Us nearby. The place is incredible! They have absolutely everything you need for a new baby, and a great selection of everything. Their selections include a wide price range as well, so anyone can stock up for that new baby without necessarily breaking the bank. And they have display models of all the large items in their stores, so you can see it in person rather than on a box.

Chili's is a great choice for a sit down restaurant with decent prices. They have a wide variety of dishes, and a great kids menu. The staff is all very friendly, and the non-smoking section is large and kept away from the smoking section, which I think is great. I sometimes calls in orders with Chili's To Go, and my husband picks them up on his way home. Really handy!

I love this mall! They have two great stores for funny t-shirts (Hot Topic and another one), several good restaurants (Kerby's is awesome), a big toy store (that's BIG toys, not a big store) and lots of others. They also have the Giggle Gang, which my son is in. With that he gets a free little birthday cake every year, and it is EXCELLENT! Not some cheap little dinky dry cake. He also gets cards a couple times a year with things that are going on, sometimes with offers for free things for him. I'm sure it's all just a ploy to get the parents into the mall, but you know what? It works!

We go to the Old Navy Outlet for clothes for the whole family. Last year we got our son a whole summer wardrobe for something like $5 each piec. I buy pants there because I hate paying full price for jeans. I like this store because they're inexpensive, and I can get more for my money. Some of the stuff is specifically made for the outlet, but some is irregular. Most of the time you can't tell though. The store is usually pretty messy from crazy women searching for something in the right color and size, but the men's department is usually pretty neat. The staff is nice, and if you ask them for something, they're happy to help.
