I took my wife here for her birthday and as an entire dining experience this has been the best place we've eaten in the D.C. area, and we've been to Citronelle and 2941. We don't normally enjoy Italian food, but all the food was wonderful and the amuse bouche were amazing. It's great not only to get the set meals, but little unexpected surprises as well. Some of the amuse were the best I've ever had and I just wanted more. You can also get seats which allow you to view the kitchen as they prepare the good if that's to you liking. The service can be a bit indifferent, but they were efficient and the food more than makes up for any slight shortcomings in that arena.

This used to be called the Chicken Place...
I went here recently on a Sunday afternoon and the place was packed. We had to wait half an hour for a table for 4, but it was well worth it. The seafood ceviche was flavorful and not overpowering like some places. I believe they make it to order here. Calamari was good. The papa rellena was a welcome change to that which I'm familiar. My entrée was the beef tripe which was marinated and sautéed with onions and fried potatoes. You may be squeamish at the concept, but it was excellent. We also shared some type of mousse for dessert which perfect and not overpowering like most desserts seem. If you don't like your potatoes, then you should probably skip this place because almost all the dishes seem to build off of potatoes. This place is a diamond in the rough. I can't wait to go back.

I've been here for many a Chinese Wedding banquet and the food during those times is actually pretty good. But because they seem to make all their money doing banquets, the quality is quite lacking during other times in the day. Also, the Dim Sum is quite uninspired and just isn't good quality. I still have to head down to Wheaton and Silver Spring if I want quality Dim Sum.

So if you want to eat Chinese Buffet and have it taste half-way decent, then this is the place to go. Stick to the regular chinese type dishes and veer away from the Dim Sum. Even the sushi is passable, if you want to take that risk. I do just because I can't resist sushi. In general with regards to the chinese food, it's pretty authentic even though it may not be of the highest quality. My in-laws think this is the only restaurant at which it is worth going out to eat.

The baked goods here are fine and will do in a pinch, but the sit down food is just horrible. It may be an authentic HK "tea restaurant", but if it is then I know 4 Chinese people who are from HK and Southern China that thinks the food is inedible. The Wonton Noodle soup I had just reeked of ammonia and the congee just can't compare with homemade. Stick with the pastries... but even those aren't that great.
