Norm has perfected the Chicago-style sandwich and you'll kick yourself if you miss out on this Lincoln gem. But be prepared for some gruff service, Norm focuses all his attention on preparing an incredible sandwich and he doesn't have time for your silly needs.
For the uninitiated, here is what you should know:
1. You need to tell Norm whether or not you want onions and peppers on your sandwich.
2. Do you want light, medium or juicy (au jus)?
3. If you want chips and a drink, just say so.

A friend, however, ate here once a couple of years ago and an intact, fully cooked, grasshopper was on his plate. He complained to the management and they did nothing to accommodate this complaint except give him a different plate. Needless to say, he hasn't been back.
I keep telling him that he's lucky they didn't charge him extra for such a delicacy.

I had the chicken medallions and there was a lot of food. These were much bigger than tenderloins.
The service was slightly rushed, in that she was obviously very busy, but she was professional, courteous and attentive.
I highly recommend this restaurant.

They no longer serve their food family style, which means you pay more for your meal and the side dishes are not refilled.
More importantly, the night we went there the service was atrocious. One waitress was on duty to handle the entire restaurant. Granted, the place was far from full but she definitely had her hands full.
Our food arrived at three different times, so most of our party of five was finished while the last two people hurriedly ate their food.
The food was very good, so I may go back someday but not for awhile.

I had heard good things about the Denton Steakhouse/Keno parlor, so my son and I checked it out yesterday. While I may have some reservations about recommending this place, I will go again to give it a second chance. I suspect it is pretty good.
We arrived around 7:30 p.m. on a Sunday. Walking in, we were met with a strong cigarette smell. If there was a non-smoking section to sit in I didn't see it.
We ordered the Daily Double burger (not a double burger, by the way, but a large hamburger patty and bun). The bun was fresh, which was a nice surprise, and the patty wasn't the pre-formed sawdust burger patty some places try to serve. It was real hamburger and it was good. It was a great deal too, $4.95 for a large burger and fries.
Our burgers were undercooked - probably cooked to medium. Restaurants should always cook to medium-well unless ordered otherwise. And the burgers were a little too greasy. You expect a certain amount of grease at any good burger joint, but this was just slightly too much.
The kicker was it probably took 30-45 minutes for our undercooked burgers to arrive. We enjoyed our food once it got there but didn't expect to kill an hour for a burger and fries.
I'll go back again over the lunch hour and see how things sort out then. I suspect the service will be more efficient.

Although each special is all-you-can eat, one serving is usually plenty. I have never been able to reqeust a second helping and I have a large appetite.
The pulled pork sandwich on Wednesdays is good and the enchilada on Thursdays is good too. I've found the ground beef inside the Thursday enchilada and inside the 25-cent tacos on Sunday to be less flavorful than I expected, but for what you're paying what do you expect? Besides, a little salsa can cure anything.
The service is decent, the atmosphere is OK. Not a great date place unless you're partner likes the hole-in-the-wall atmosphere like I do.
Paying is usually a test of your patience. The wait staff has to leave the dining floor to come ring you up and typically that takes a lot longer than most places, so allow yourself some extra time for that. Or better yet, bring cash and leave it on the table so you can make a quick exit.
Bottom line: It's OK. I'll go back because it's a great lunch deal.

I absolutely love stopping here http://www.gregorbooks.com/cgi-bin/gregor/index.html whenever I'm in Langley. The books are remarkable and I only hope to someday buy one of my favorites. Perhaps an autographed Kurt Vonnegut novel?
The store is quiet and well organized and it's fun to browse around and see what's there. I always find something new when I stop by.

We have to stop at Greenbank Farm http://www.greenbankfarm.com/shop.cfm every time we're on the island just to wander through the antique store and soak in the atmosphere.
The real reason we stop, however, is to go to the cafe. Their coffee is fantastic and is only surpassed by their pies, which are incredible! Try the Loganberry pie, if only to say you ate a piece at Greenbank Farm, once the world's largest grower of Logangerries.
We had lunch there last time we visited and had some tomato bisque soup that was also fantastic.

The Isles Pub and Pizza is a nice change of pace for Lincoln. It's high on my list because it's a locally owned restaurant and I prefer that over a franchise any time. It also has that "unknown" quality that I like, kind of like it's a well-kept secret.
The pizza is very good. The crust isn't too thick and it's not too thin. The Leaning Tower of Pizza was a little heavy on onions the time I tried it but still very good.
The last time I went ot the Isles for lunch I had intended to order pizza but the lunch special was a ot beef sandwich, so I went with that. That turned out to be an excellent choice too.
The service is great here and the atmosphere is just like you'd expect from a hometown bar. I would go back anytime.
If you live in Lincoln, you need to be able to say you've had pizza at the Isles, if only for your street cred as a Lincoln eater. Think of it as a scouting mission for a trip to Misty's across the steet, another Lincoln dining institution.
