Every time I go to La Cabana, I leave full and happy. The servers are genuine and the owner is very personable. I will keep them in mind for a catered occasion. Delicioso!

I've been a patient there for over 8 years. I started there with Dr. Carrington and currently see Dr. Pally. Although I have moved away from the Bay Area, I will probably continue to see Dr. Pally for anything but urgent care or emergency, I enjoy the service there very much.

I enjoyed going there with my sister, but it can be hectic and impersonal, so be prepared.

Dr. Segui has been my primary physician for several years now. She is WONDERFUL. I've also seen Dr. Jue in the past, and when I was in the hospital with pneumonia, both of them came to visit me. You just can't find nicer doctors. The MAs and other staff are great too. Whether I've had an appointment or just walked in, I've always been treated with courtesy and respect. These doctors really care.

Nestled within the BayView Hotel is Ristorante Barolo. I believe it offers some of the best Italian cuisine I've ever tasted. It is family owned and operated by my good friends Cristina and Giovanni. They are also partners at another fine Italian restaurant here in Newark (which I will also review!).
I first met Cristina and Giovanni at their Newark restaurant. I went there for a company lunch, and I was hooked. As I got to know them better, so when Cristina told me about their new "project", it wasn't long before we made reservations and stayed at the Bayview for a week. (Look for a review of the Bayview Hotel, natch). They've owned the converted Victorian bed-and-breakfast for 3 or 4 years now, and they've done amazing things in that short period of time.
On to the appetizers! They have eight Antipasti selections, two of them being salads. I love bruschetta, so it's a no-brainer for me. In the Pasta category there are at least ten choices - the gnocchi is to die for! Under the next course (Secondi), you can choose from chicken, veal, lamb or fish dishes. And now to the best part - dessert! They make a mean tiramisu that I just can't resist. The atmosphere is classy yet casual: paintings on the wall, quiet candlelight table settings, yet you don't need reservations. They also have a complete bar. The staff is very friendly and accomodating, so don't be afraid to ask questions about how something is cooked. A great place for a special occasion, or no occasion at all. They also do weddings and receptions.

I went to Kepler's for the first time last month, and I enjoyed it very, very much. Displays are clean and up to date, with lots of information for the inept such as me. Many gifts associated with reading available, including a Diego Rivera finger puppet, perfect for my Spanish professor! A great, quiet place with a cafe next door to start reading your new books! Menlo Park has kept this a well-guarded secret for too long.

"La Cabana" literally means "the hut", and it's outward appearance may have you thinking it's a dive. The owner recently made some modifications to the inside, however, resulting in a bigger place with several atmospheres in which to feast. The food is fresh, plentiful, simple and authentic. I arranged for a group of about 20 classmates, plus our Spanish professor, to have a private room for a luncheon and study group. Everyone was pleased, even the teacher was impressed! (No, it didn't raise my grade). The waitresses are friendly and courteous, and considering the size of the crowd, the service was fast. My husband and I have been there several times, and the service has been consistently great. They have a jukebox full of Hispanic tunes. Sometimes they have strolling mariachis on Friday or Saturday nights, adding to the experience. Since I live within walking distance, it has become a weeknight dinner place as well as a choice for special occasions. The flan is excellent!
